Taking a break.

Man I have been giving it this season.
No complaints but it has been a grind for this older body.
I'm sitting at 11 down missed 2..shit happens.

Most of my sets are in field openings on high ground. Not much calling lots of sitting and watching. Observing travel patterns. But my word the long sits for hours day after day...exhausting.Did I mention the cold it's a thing here lol.

Land owners are happy that I am successful, and I will be back at it in few days...just need a break.

Just glad I'm still able to enjoy my favorite time of year👍

Awesome gtoad!, sitting like that can wear on you. I used to do that turkey hunting....in before light, leaving at dusk. Haven't done that in years though.

You don't find calling effective in your area? I don't think I'd ever sit for more than 30 minutes, maybe 45 for a coyote stand.

It will work and I am going to start after a short break. But I will still sit one hour minimum per set. We have coyotes but I would not say it's coyote rich environment. Probably 6 to 10 sets for one opportunity.

For a 3 decades I would take 2-3 week Nov. archery trips out of state, alone for several years then when I got in my mid 50's (mid 2000's) Suz said that I had to have someone with me. I took it as a JOB and most days were day to dark in a small lock on tree stand. Finally in 2015-16 the guy with me (13yrs younger) says, something to the effect of "you got to chill/take a break once in a while".
I took his words to heart and must say that though I am still driven in my pursuits, hunting is more enjoyable as a layed back endeavor. ENJOY YOUR BREAK Toad

I was the exact same way in my 40's and early 50's when bow hunting deer.
Then I noticed our deer population dropping dramatically...predator hunting kicked in.
So now I have the same mindset hunting coyotes...just I'm aging and it's harder to keep up that level of intensity all season.

But next week I will be back at it. Plus we are going to get a break with some warmer temps. 👍 The cold here takes a toll.
