Tannerite with a .204?

I bought 10lbs of Tannerite for a little shooting get together this weekend. The instructions say to use .223 and larger caliber but I was wondering if a .204 would work? Also does the bullet need to be a FMJ or anything? Can I use Vmax bullets? Thanks

Your .204 will work great...No worries there...The key with Tannerite is the velocity with which the target gets hit..not the caliber...Just like reloading though....Start small and work up...a small medicine bottle of tannerite will do a bunch of damage to any surrounding items...If you want to turn over a vehicle, then move up in size a little...

A fast little VMax out of your 204 outta be great. Be careful, though, there is heat present and will start grass fires and such. The Utah BLM just implimented a $350 fine for use of tannerite on BLM land.

you guys are lucky, the communist state i live in passed a law that makes it illegal to mix the tannerite. you can buy it but as soon as you mix it your breaking the law.

larr,

I googled your state, just for S&G's, and here is what i found.

And I saw a few websites that said the legal till mixed thing is not in law...yet!

I've used my 204 with 32 v-maxes as far out as 500 yards to set it off.

There is a small fire hazard with tannerite, but it is limited because it depletes the area of oxygen. Small charges are actually more likely to set fire than a large charge. If you are really worried about a fire I recommend going up to a 1 1/2lb-3lb charge. It really is dificult to set something on fire with tannerite unless it is very flamable.

Also keep in mind that the difference between a 1lb charge and a 3lb charge is significant. The difference between 5lb and 10lb charge is huge.

Dang, 1 lb and 3 lbs, WoW I just use medicine bottles and it shakes up the neighborhood. I fill like I've got my own satellite over head spying on me....LOL Oh yes I also use a 204 32gr.
I do live in a neighborhood, but have 35 acres. So I try to keep it down and not rattle too many windows..

We go out into the middle of no man's land in Nevada for a few days a year and shoot $$$$ of tannerite. Lord knows I have seen some things, very impressive things, in the NV desert. We had an epic 4th of july last year.

I have yet to set anything on fire with tannerite, and I have blown up a lot of stuff. A 32 ounce gatorade bottle will set off a car alarm sitting 150 yards away, that I do know.

We have an old fart that always makes you hang his targets at the club. I'm dying to fill a cig pack full of that stuff and hang it behind his target. Should really be interesting.

Once again, a misinformed LEO. Or he has a personal agenda.
