I was running an add on craigslist looking for a cheap scope to put on a recently acquired .22-250 and had a guy reply back telling me he had a Tasco Pronghorn 3x9x40 scope that he only wanted $50 for. At first I was thinking that wasnt too bad of a price until he also said that it retails for $240. I know nothing about Tasco scopes but that just didnt sound right. I started to do a search and found that I can get the exact same scope for $34.95 and thats brand spanking new. That price is on the low end. Highest price I found for it was $63.44 Why on earth would you tell someone something was worth $240 when it clearly isnt worth anywhere near that price? He was either thinking that I wasnt going to investigate and trying to pull one over on me or he plain just got screwed when he bought the scope. Some people never cease to amaze me. I found this quite humerous and thought some of you guys might feel the same way. Good hunting, Josh

Yeah i saw that too. He just sent me a message back saying he was just messing with me and that he had several scopes in his collection if I was still needing one. Some people shouldnt be allowed to breed in my opinion.

Im not really set on a price right now. Basically just trying to get a feel for whats out there used before I buy new. The .22-250 I just got is going to be back up for my .223 and also something for my wife to shoot, so not looking for anything real expensive. Would like to keep it under $150 if possible. I wouldnt be real worried about the price but I just bought a new .223 and Nikon 4x12x40 within the last month so funds for new toys are tight.

I would look at the Vortex line they are a decent scope for the money and an unbeatable warranty for the price. Nikon makes a great product but have recently pulled alot of sponsoring on "killing contests" more commonly referred to as coyote contests. So I let them make their money on bird watchers and photographers, IMO.

Vortex Crossfire 4-12x40 Vortex Crossfire 4-12x40 if you're looking in the 3ish-14ish power range is a pretty good option. Has an illuminated reticle as well.

Mueller APV 4.5-14x40AO Is also another good option. APV Plex and has A/O adjustment and ships with a free sunshade as well.

Mueller APT 4.5-14x40AO. The Mueller APT is an APV on steroids. 30MM tube, Mil-Dots, fast focus knob, and target turrets.

All the Vortex/Mueller scopes have a lifetime warranty too

Hey, You're in-state for me so you must be a good guy right? I have a pronghorn I'll send you for free if it will get you by until you can get the scope you want. at least it will see some use for you. I'll never mount it. I also have a BSA 4-16x50 if you prefer. they both seem servicable but I never fired a shot with either. I got them in rifle or gear purchases and played with them a little but never used them. Send me your address and which you'd prefer and I'll ship it to you.
