Back in 1989 I purchased 2 Remington model 700 Classics in .300 Weatherby Mag.  One was for me and one for my son.  At the time, the only scope I had laying around was a 4-16 power Tasco, so I mounted it on mine.  I'm not sure what I mounted on my son's.  The scope has survived at least 60 rounds of the .300 mag that I'm positive of and maybe a few more at the range and hunting.  It still held the original zero from when I mounted it.  It's now retired and sitting on my Ruger Target in .22-.250.  I also agree with the above posters.  I'd spend some dollars and get a decent scope.  I don't even remember buying the Tasco, but it's earned a good retirement on the rifle it's now on.
