I had that same sliding noise came from the eyebell end of the scope .Had a cheap tasco pronghorn on a spring air rifle the scope only lasted about a year .Pulled the eyepiece apart and ened up being a ring of metal that holds the rear eye glass.Just gave it a couple of taps each side with a centrepunch where the marks are to hold it back in place.I only like the tasco scopes made in the Philipines or Tasco titan or Tasco extreme series for better quality.Trying to stay away from cheap scopes as they have ruined a couple of good hunts especially in wet weather.
