Tasco Varmint/Tactical Scopes

I have only seen one trashco that had good optics. It had the elevation and windage turrets on it and I think that the owner told me it was some kind of tactical scope. He also told me that he was having a hard time with it because it wouldn't hold POI on his 308. All the other trashcos that I have owned(past tense) had the same problem or the optics would not allow me to see anything clearly past 150yds. I know some people that swear by them but their also the ones that say that optics aren't were you should be spending your money on a new rifle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

for the pricetag you're lookint at go to the optic zone and look at muellers. I can't believe the pricetag on something that good

I had a tasco varmint 6-24 on a 22-250 for about 700 rounds or so. It has long been replaced, but it was all I could afford at that time. It held zero, and the adjustments, even though they were off, were at least repeatable. I only had one issue with it. If you tried to use it on anything over 16X the image was very dark and eye relief became an issue.

Will it work? Most certainly. Would I buy one again? NO.

I can't justify, to myself, throwing away money on cheap optics. I usually just save enough to get another piece of good glass and then I will always have it, rifles might get bought and sold but the glass just moves from rifle to rifle.

+1

I have one in 6x24 and it is ok for the money but I will not buy another one. Everytime I start thinking that it ain't so bad I go and look through my leupold and remeber that yes it is.

How about a +2 on the same scope. I had it mounted on a 700vs in .223, it worked ok but to spend my money on another, NOPE.

To the original poster, if a fixed power works for you, the Super Sniper from SFWA has gotten really good reviews and the price is inline with the Tascos.

I just bought a mueller 4.5-14x40 apv and i am very impressed with it. You can get a really really nice mueller for under $150 The one i bought was under $130. I liked it so much i ordered another one to replace a bushnell 3200 elite that i dont like.

I have a tasco Target/Varmint 6-24x40mm I bought it a few months back and its still in the box, have'nt used it yet. I would probably sell it.
I bought it because my friend has them on his varmint rifles and he has good luck with them. I they clear optics for the price.

I would look for a used leupold M8 fixed power they can be found for $100 to $200 and you can resale on and move on up if you need to,at least this way youre not throwing money away on a cheap disposable scope that you really can't count on.
