Tasco Varmit Scopes

Hey guys,

I am looking for a new scope for a 788 in 22.250 for gophers. I am thinking about the Tasco Varmit 6-24x 42mm. I know that Tasco is no longer around and bought out by Bushnell and I know that this is a cheap scope but I have never bought a scope over $350. I want to hear from you guys that have looked and shot through these scopes and tell me what you think, good or bad.

I have two Tasco World Class 8-32x42 scopes. One on a .22-250 and the other on a .223. They both are pretty nice scopes. They hold their zero and you can spin the target knows and bring it back to zero every time and not move your POI.

I have a 6-24 Tasco on a Savage 223 and have had no problems with it. I would check out the Sightron 6-24 on sale at midwayusa.com for $299. I'm thinking of switching.

I have owned several Tasco scopes in the past and never had a problem with them... Naturally, I do not think that they are as well built as a Leupold, but then again, they do not cost as much. It is always stressed to buy the best scope that you can afford, as such, many people who can not afford a Leupold, Burris, or Nikon scope, has had the opportunity to enter into varmint hunting because of the lower price of the Tasco scope. Many years ago, I bought a Tasco 4-16X40 O/A scope, and still have it in service. Please have a great day! Tejaswrangler

I am spoiled since having owned Nikon and Leupold. But...I used to buy Tasco cause they were cheap. I think as far as cheap scopes go they are the best. Never had a problem with them. Just don't compare your Tasco to a high end scope by looking through one and you will like it.

I have the Tasco 6x24 on my Savage 22-250 and have not had any problems with it, infact it is by far my favorite sub $150.00 scope.

I had a 6-24 varmint on a .223 handi rifle. I didnt have any problems with it. Bought it used for $50, worth every penny. I just sold the gun and scope the other day b/c I broke down and bought a rem 700 vls in .223. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Im putting a tasco 10x40x50 on it  . Hope its as good as my 6x24 was.

A good friend told me some years ago to buy only the Tascos that were made in Japan. I have followed his advice religiously and have been quite satisfied. I have six now and all perform well. They are mostly 6x24x40. the last one is 6x24x44. Mind you I don't mount them on my hard recoiling magnums. Most of my shooting nowadays is from the bench, caliber 6.5x55 and smaller. I'm sure the brightness is much better on a Leupold or Burris, but for my needs the Tasco does the job nicely. Just be sure to avoid the low priced scopes that are made in China.
Most of them are horrendous, Tasco or otherwise. Best wishes.
