Due you Remember about 10 years or more, ago when we Recived Tax Rebates to get the country going.......Evey one recived $300 to $600 Dollars......

As they said, yours to spend (any way you want)

I was thrilled to have some Extra Bucks in my wallet for bills and such... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif....for the so-called Jump start for the country....

Then the Next Tax Season, when I went to H&R Block to have my Taxes done, I found out the Rebate was a Loan, and I had to pay it back to the Goverment... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif...Like everyone Else.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I was Ferious, I was expecting some funds, Instead I had to work extra days to pay the $450.00 back to the IRS.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif or be Subject to Intrest Charges for payments........for the Loan....

Im wondering if this Rebate Program they just passed for all of us, is going to be the Same.......

To Keep or just Another Loan......... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It is just another "loan". This so called "economic stimulus" will amount to nothing more than smoke and mirrors to delay the inevitable. Somewhere just before the election we will experience a deeper recession and look out after the first of next year.....I am convinced we will see a depression that will make the early '30's look like a cake walk.

From what I hear it is not taxable income......... BUT next year at tax time you have to deduct that amount from your refund. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, which I hope I am.

That rebate is taxable income. Big brother doesn't tell you that about it. They can keep it as far as I'm concerned.

Ditto. I would like to tell Bush where to put it but that wouldn't be nice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Nothing like paying taxes on tax money and paying taxes on tax money and pay taxes on tax money and paying taxes on tax money........puke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The best description of it is that it is an increased welfare payment. Those who pay the least taxes get the most and yes those who actually pay taxes will have to pay it back, plus make up all that was paid to non tax payers.

It is nothing more than a not even thinly disguised attempt to buy votes in the next election.

Maybe, just maybe, the government should reduce its size down to a Constitutional level and then we wouldn't have to worry about it loaning us our own money.

It really irritates me how over taxed we are; we are taxed on everything and for those of us that work, we never see anything in return. They can't even make the argument that they use my money to fix the roads or infrastructure because they haven't done that in 50 years.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Here in Tucson they want us to conserve water. So now everyone is conserving water and our water rates are going up...you know why? Because the water department promised 21 mil to conservation efforts and now that everyone is conserving and building has stalled, they don't have the money to teach people how to conserve. It like a dog chasing it's tail.

Less government is better government.

I dont have a problem with it, its my money to start with.

I just wish I could keep the cut forever.

Anyhoo, I do think it is the right thing to do, I do think it will help our economy. I dont think we are headed for a 30s style depression. The Depression was a "Perfect Storm" of Social, Economic, Natural, and Political components.

Had any one of those factors not been there, the "Great" Depression would have been much less.

Even if you consider that the economy is not as "hot" as it used to be, we are still seeing nothing that mirrors the social, natural or political changes that were happening then, and helped drive the whole thing. Nor will we, in my estimation.

first off I believe that we are worst now than the dust bowl! and the only reason it's not dusty now it's because we have beater framing berates! the tree's are so dried out A spark can start a FIRE the water table so far down that the lake's and stream's are barely going!
Record heatwaves no rain, the snow is decreasing. (in my area) the wildlife is going hay wired there more unpredictably!
and we are not in a depression? I shay yes we are in a depression but if you don't think so fin by me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
