Taylor Arms 45-70 Gov't Sharps... quality?

I've been eyeballing a Taylor Arms(?) 45-70 Gov't Sharps at the LGS for probably about a year or longer. Today I took a closer look at it. Nowhere on the rifle is it stamped Taylor Arms. However it is stamped Armi Sport, Italy and imported by Chiappa Firearms Dayton, OH. Price is $1495. It looks to be a very well made rifle but I am definitely a novice when it comes to reproduction rifles like this. I would appreciate anyone sharing their experiences, knowledge, or opinions regarding Taylor or Armi Sport firearms. Thumbs

You get what you pay for. An extra K will get you a Shiloh Sharps they have a few rifles for delivery right now on their site for example there's a 1874 Montana Rough Rider up for grabs priced at 2400. I waited on my Quigley in 45-110 for over two years. But as you ca see it was worth it. Grizz

While I do not own one or have ever owned a Armi Sport sharps replica I have seen a few at cowboy action shoots and BPCR matches.
There quality is somewhat below Pedersoli but above IAB, they used to have a problem breaking firing pins (I've also had a firing pin break on my Shiloh Sharps) and with Chambers drilled off center.
For about $300 more you can get a Pedersoli 1874 business rifle or Silhouette rifle.
It depends on what you want it for, I shoot BPCR matches and Silhouette and you rarely ever see them being competitive.
If you just want to shoot a old timey buffalo gun once in a while their ok but I would stick with black powder equivalent loads.

I went the Pedersoli route, took it in on trade & kept it as I was considering a custom. It works fine for my purposes (occasional plinking on my backyard range).

My Armi sport I have had for years. You are going to have to buy a good tang sight and front site anyway. Mine is a plain Jane but it shoots.
