Quote:Jun 14, 2013 - This recall applies to all ICON, VENTURE and DIMENSION rifles manufactured by Thompson/Center Arms prior to June 13, 2013

Quote:Thompson/Center Arms has issued a major recall for all its Icon, Venture and Dimension rifles.

Last week, T/C Arms released a public safety notice saying the company identified a problem in which the safety lever in some rifles can bind, preventing the safety from fully engaging. When this happens, moving the bolt back could move the safety into the fire position.

T/C Arms stressed the rifle will not fire unless the trigger is pulled, but is recalling all rifles manufactured before June 13, 2013, as a precaution. The company urged all owners to stop using the rifles immediately and send them back to be inspected or repaired at T/C Arms’ expense.

For more information on how to return your rifle, contact Thompson/Center customer service, which will send a pre-paid shipping label. Once the rifle is inspected, it will be returned with a small marking on the safety along with a red star on the package’s label. Any owners outside the U.S. should check this list of authorized warranty centers.

The first recall from 2011 was for only specific serial numbers regarding a faulty sear which caused the rifle to fire without the trigger being pulled.

The latest recall is for all models regardless of sn, as stated above.

I sent my Venture Predator back two weeks ago to address both recalls, and they paid shipping both ways. FedEx says it will be at my door tomorrow, so turn around was pretty quick for me.

i might just send it in and tell them to keep it 2 recalls in 2 years what will happen in 2 more years what will be recalled then

That's not correct, the out of spec sears never caused an unintentional discharge. It was a precautionary recall to make sure nothing like that happened, just like the current recall.

Send it to me...........just about every gun company out there has had recalls, some far more than others. Sending a gun back on their dime to fix a potential issue where a part can move while the rifle is on its side which causes the safety to lock up.and.not.move is not a big deal..........but that's just me

Tell them to keep it ? They are not going to refund you a retail price or any at all. Get it fixed and sell it,if it's an issue to you.

Cars and trucks have recalls all the stink'n time....

I should have been more specific, saying the sear MAY cause an unwanted discharge without the trigger being pulled.

Either way, S&W are asking owners with relevant sn's to stop using their rifle until it can be addressed.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE - November 11, 2011

PRODUCT:
ALL Thompson Center Venture Rifles manufactured prior to October 28, 2011.

DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARD:
During an internal technical review, Smith & Wesson identified a condition that may exist with the sear supplied with some rifles that would allow the rifle to fire without the trigger being pulled. In the interest of consumer safety, we are initiating this recall to allow for the prompt inspection and, if necessary, the repair of each rifle.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT INVOLVED:
This broadens the recall announced by Smith & Wesson on November 8, 2011. This recall applies to ALL Venture rifles manufactured prior to October 28, 2011. To determine if your rifle is affected, please reference the serial number list located at the link below. If your serial number does not fall within the list of affected serial numbers, your rifle is not part of this recall.

REMEDY/ACTION TO BE TAKEN:
STOP USING YOUR RIFLE.

Any unintended discharge of a firearm has the potential to cause injury or death, and we ask that you stop using your rifle until we have an opportunity to inspect the sear to make certain that there is no condition which will allow the rifle to fire without the trigger being pulled.

To facilitate the inspection and, if necessary, repair of your rifle, please contact Smith & Wesson’s customer service department to receive instructions and a prepaid return label for the return of your rifle to Smith & Wesson.

When you return your rifle to Smith & Wesson, be sure to attach the completed information card received from Smith & Wesson, so that your rifle can be returned to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

VERIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION:
When your rifle sear is returned, you should note a punch dot on the trigger assembly. See the photograph below. This punch dot is confirmation that your sear has been inspected and the hazard has not been found or has been corrected.

well i contacted tc today its going to take up to two weeks for them to send me a email to print the shipping label and two weeks for them to ship me a box, does anyone know where tc is located at i would hope it would be somewhere close but im sure even if it was it would prob take another two weeks to get it back

Don't feel to bad about a recall. I just ordered in a S&W 460 performance center 10.5 barrel revolver it came in. Does not lockup tight, gritty trigger and the cylinder rubs the frame. 1500.00 dollar piece of junk told them to send it back cause I am not buying it.

When I requested my label for return, it was emailed to me within minutes, maybe even seconds. I doubt you'll have to wait two weeks for it to arrive.

Go to a local gun store and ask for a box, they'll give you an extra one lying around to ship it back. They're turn times are great, and you'll have your rifle back in no time.

Or don't send it in at all if it really bothers you that bad to have to wait for it!
