im shooting 41.5 grain of accurate 4064 in my .308 using 165grain sst ,,during the winter when its really cold my groups open up to around a inch group verus any other time when there one ragged hole ,,which powder would be least senstive to the cold?

It's not a real good time for me to go test this right now, but it appears a good idea, (The temperature outside right now is 97*)
From what little I know, you should look into the Australian powders brought in by Hodgdon. Not only are their components different, but they're usually cut some shorter. That may have something to do with why they are reputed to be less sensitive.
I take it Accurate 4064 looks similar to IMR....I've not been able to find any around here.
What primer are you using? Sometimes a hotter primer will bring things back....partly depending on the temperature. How col is "really cold?" Some places, like here, 20* is really cold...I've hunted a few places that -1* wasn't unusual.
What rifle are you using? What scope are you using?
Have fun,

In general, I believe the Hodgdon Extreme line have the reputation of being less temperature sensitive than most other powders. The new IMR 8208 XBR is supposedly proving some interesting results in this department, and Varget and 4895 are in the Extreme line and suitable for 308's. I know I've guys happy with both for the 308. Haven't played with it yet too much myself.

ive heard of that powder ....accurate and imr 4064 is bout the same thing..im using win. primers in a remington 700 sps tactical with a 20in barrel.....20 to 30 is about a high temp here in winter.. cold is in teens or single didgits but in 20 and 30 deg weather it changes group sizes
