Leave the Swift home while after foxes, even with the 40 grainers. Most of your fox will be blown into, as Gerry Blair used to say, "the next zip code". The 22 Mag will be a very good choice for most shooting. the 17 Rem as well as the 22 Hornet will do a nice job as well. I don't think you can beat a good 12 ga. with copper plated BB's or #4 Buck. I have had clients shoot fox with 22-250's and there would be about half of the fox dripping from the underbrush. Fox, both red and grey, are light framed and tend to blow up quite easily. Years ago, back in Indiana, I used to shoot all my fox with a 243 Win. and 90gr. FMJ bullets. No pelt damage and always killed them quite dead, but a very poor load for coyotes, and a dangerous bullet for populated areas. I went to the 22 Hornet with 40gr bullets and have not looked back.
