Standard LOP are normally to long for adult/ teenage ladies. Those that have shorter LOP rifles ,what is the best stock lenght for the ladies ?

Thinking it would be 12.5 or less ....

Correct length of pull is different for everyone. The correct configuration is determined from the trigger rearward. It must be built trigger > grip > elbow > cheek weld > eye relief... in that order.

See here for a clearer explanation:

If you're properly connected, and everything has been done in order, correct LOP will be achieved when your elbow forms a 90 degree angle.

tim, most of the rifles they call compact or youth are 12 1/2 lop.

i have got to where i buy all my calling rifles as compact models. the shorter lop fits me better when i have on all my cold weather garb. and most have a 2" shorter barrel also, so they are lighter and handier getting in and out of vehicle 2 dozen times a day. i like the compact models.

I would agree shorter is better than to long.

Have a couple beginners(girls) in the shooting world, they struggle with my full size stocks.

Thanks

I have an old 243 ADL with the plastic butt plate, instead of a rubber recoil pad. Thinking redo it at a shorter LOP. Maybe hunt and maybe get lucky for a diff stock that is shorter. Don't want a cheapy plactic one ,however.

The weatherby camilla is 13". I checked the savage lady hunter but it did not give the LOP spec. I would go with the 13" based on this. Also, if it is a gun that kicks, I would change the pitch to about 5 degrees and use a pad that does not have a pointy toe.

I rode bulls for way too long for a short LOP to work for my wrist. For a vertical pistol grip like an AR, I can run down to short LOP's, but for a swept neck hunting stock, I need at least 13.5" to give my wrist room enough bend to make contact with the grip. Most of the time I end up shooting with a grip almost like a bow grip, where my pinky isn't even touching the grip neck because my wrist won't bend far enough to get under the stock.

My LOP is 12-12.5", and I'm 61 y/o. Because shortening stocks is so involved, especially the synthetics I prefer, I like the AR platform in any firearm I can get. LOP is user specific; kind of like asking what the perfect hat size is.

It seem LOP comes into play w/ how the rifle will be used, in terms of position. A prone position may require the scope to be set further forward, so LOP would be set up for accommodating that position.
A rifle used mostly for off hand would most likely require a shorter length of pull, as the head is more erect. Everyone configuration is different.

LOP is an individual thing and differs from gun to gun depending on use. My shotguns are about 13 1/4" to the front trigger(two trigger sxs's). My rifles run down to 12" with some winter guns(heavy cloths) and a little longer for milder conditions. My biggest consideration on LOP is being able to mount the rifle quickly and have my eye position directly behind the scope. I can mount my rifle to my shoulder with my eyes closed and when I open them I'm looking right through the scope with out having to move my head at all.

Some pretty long LOP listed for the ladies.

13 1/2 -15" sure not gonna work.
