the definition of "Promotions Available"

This may be one of those things that everybody else has known about and been doing for years. It seems that all of the optics i've bought over the decades have displayed the sale price, but then again, i've never priced a Leica rangefinder until now.

With the ~20 year old Nikon 5x 800 yard rangefinder fogging up, the outside surface getting funky, etc (but still working), i could see its demise coming and started looking for a replacement not made in China. And having been influenced somewhat by #3 son's top shelf Euro bino optics, more power and better optics were in order.

Remember the days when Leica was late to the digital camera party and jacked up the price of their rangefinder to help keep their boat afloat? Well, i wanted that rangefinder but would not pay their inflated price and opted for the Nikon. But it seems that today all the vendors have the same $499 price on the CRF 2400-R model. After awhile light dawned on marblehead that perhaps Leica has prohibited advertising prices lower than prescribed. So i gave a call to the outfit that sells Burris Veracity 5-25x riflescopes for $719 (shipped and tax-free) and low and behold, the nice folks there said they usually discounted the Leica RF's for 10% and are running a holiday special for 15%, including tax and shipping. My higher math and invoice reading skills verified their "Promotions Available" price to $424 delivered to my door.

The 7x Leica will go nicely with my all time favorite 7x35mm binos, the mid/early 1960's Bushnell Custom and Rangemaster wide angle (Fuji or Kowa glass) or the wide angle Swift Vulcan 7x35mm (Fuji glass).

Well, i guess that's what "Promotions Available" means, and future inquiries won't be painful. i suppose its better for the old dawg to learn a new trick than not at all.

Yea they did step it up with that rangefinder for that price. Now there other range finders are very well priced with the ballistics in them too. Look at the price of the sig rangefinder with the ballistics ap in it. I would personally prefer the Leica after owning a sig kilo 2000 and a Leica 2400r. The Leica range finder is way better glass and ranges way better for me.
