The padded foot trap.

I would not use them unless required by law. Some are so flimsy 50% of the coyotes will escape, teaching them to avoid scents and traps. A steel laminated trap is far superior, less movement of the paw. With rubber jaws there is movement, swelling and skin damage, if it holds them. About 3/4ths of my catches still have dirt pressed into the fur of the paw, this means no movement, no damage, usually.

I had to use them in California before they made trapping not legal.

The rubber jawed traps were much harder on the animal than offset steel jaws were. I had to 4 coil mine to get them to work.

Don't buy them unless you have to.

for water sets not many good rubber padded traps out there for sure, go with a standard 1.5 coil for coons, mink, etc. DBL jaw raps are nice as well for water setting.

Land traps for coyotes things are much better now than years past the jake trap is an excellent coyote trap that you can run with the pads on or off. The pads on the jake are very firm and hold well, or take them off and you have a nice offset jawed trap with a thicker jaw.

If laws dictait the need for padded traps JC conners pad kits on a 2 or 3 bridger trap would work very well and your loss rate would be low.

If you don't need to use them then a good offset jawed trap with a nice wide jaw is very animal friendly as well.
