The Smallest Calibers

I've been looking for some sub-cal (.12, .10, and .08 caliber) rounds to add to my collection. The few that are out there are really rare and about impossible to buy, so with a little help with some bushings and bullets from a machinist, I made a few myself. Wonder what the MV would be on these little guys. They are a little homely, but I am going to play around some more and try to get them to look a little better. Had to start somewhere. From left to right: .20 VT, .17 FB, .14/221, .12/221, .10/221, and .08/221.

stealthman,
Talk about barrel burners.
I alyways wondered why no one has to my knowledge necked down a 22 hornet to .20 or .17.
Maybe someone has a link?

ninehorses just do a search here for 17Ackley hornet and you will get lots of info. Pruson regularly wacks a bunch of groundhogs with his which I beleive is a Browning Micro-medallion he has re-barreled.

I have always wanted a .17 Remington, and have been going back and forth between it at the .204. I think the .08 would be nice, but what would you shoot?

Sounds like a great little round to take out field mice and ground moles without ruining the hides!

DLJ6: Those .14 AH rifles are fun. I had one off a Ruger 77/22. Really quiet and very effective.

Luke Baxter: The bullets I have for the rounds above are just brass spun down. I haven't actually weighed them yet. As for the .14 stuff, Marty at Twisted Barrel makes copper solids in .14 cal from 9gn, 12gn, 15gn, and 18gn I think. Carl at Extreme Accuracy makes swaged lead core bullets in 10.5gn, 12gn, 15gn, and 18gn, IIRC. The lighter one's seemed to shoot the best in the guns I had. The .14 Flea would be a fun little squirrel rifle.

Ron Reed of Reeds Ammo was putting together a T/C barrel group buy on a .10 cal off the Hornet case, but something never got put together somewhere along the line, so it didn't happen. Hopefully it will at some point.
