Can coyote smell a therma-cell. Mosquito's are getting bad down here and used my TC this morning but didn't call anything up. They say the deer can't smell it and just wondering?
Best $30 I ever spent. Use huntin and fishin. I use it calling coyotes and the way I see it is - it's not putting off any more scent the I am. Just use the wind to your advantage.

humans typically can smell (in terms of measurements), in the parts per thousand. Coyotes can smell in parts per TRILLION. Deer & bear must be close to that figure as well, b/c animals have a hundred times more receptors in the nose than us.
The point is: IF I can smell it, I'm sure the animals can as well, including you, and what you had for breakfast.
I dont know what the difference is in texas and any where else they work!!!!!! As for smell what i have learn i think it all starts with set up wind etc.We know the yote can smell it like rpc55 said trillion.
trust me they do not work in east tx.i have called them and they told me that i wasnt the only one in east tx that had told them the same thing.they was surposed to send a reb here to see what the deal was but he never showed.the shannon bug tammer suit works like a charm.
for you doubters, I had my headlights on while fishing by our pond last summer. Of course, the light drew thousands upon thousands of bugs and mosquitos. flipped on the thermacell and 5 to 10 minutes later I maybe had 1 measly mosquito in the headlights. Convinced me that night, idk bout the scent though. I can smell it if you put your nose right up to it
We use one when we spend the night on the river in the boat. The mosquitos will do a number on you in your sleep if you dont have one running. As for the smell, I can smell it so surely a coyote can as well. Josh
The coyote we shot last weekend showed up at 86 yards with us having two Thermacells running (at a crosswind). You just have to pay attention to the wind, Thermacell or not.
It works for me in East Texas. I use it on nearly every hunt during bow season in October. I would say they definately work. Not sure why it didn't for you.

I've had a couple recently with a defective lighting mechanism. Surely he isn't sitting there with an unlit one spewing butane? I would imagine that wouldn't be very effective.
