Thermal viewer choice input

Just curious if you were looking for a thermal mono for scanning at night ranges from 25 yards to 700 yards would you choice a 640 core 1X to 1.5X (19mm/35mm lens) system or a 336 core with 2X to 3X (30mm /50mm lens) system for a $1000 less.

I don't think there will be many options for a grand or less. The flir ls64 is a great monocular, the ir patrol that was just released looks like it is going to be a killer unit.

Kyle , I mean the 336 system would cost $1000 less than the 640 system. Sorry for any any confusion on that in my first post.
I keep thinking while the 640 is extra nice ,if I have to zoom it all the time for viewing longer range that pretty much makes it a 320 system at that point anyway.

It depends on which is more important the 25 yards or 700. If 700 I'd go with the 336 core & 3x lense.

I use a 320 core with 3x lense and it reaches that far, about 50% farther detection/id than my ls-64 will.

Which system were you looking at?

320 core with same lens diameter as 640 core (35mm) normally has one half of the FOV, the range on the two will be essentially the same, however ID would be 4X better with 640 core and the FOV would be 2X better than 320 core.

A 320 core with a 19mm lens would not quite have detection range out 700 yards though would have a very good FOV.
