Thermion 2 xq35 pro

I had a thermion xq38 a couple years ago. The image was so so. Does anyone have any experience with the new ones? Just wondering if the image has improved from the original Thermion.

I've had several buddies pick up the new XG50 Thermion and they are all happy with them. My best hunting partner bought one and I spent quite a bit of time on the range with it one day and for $3400 at Europtic its IMO the best value for a 640 and has a really nice image.

He hasn't had it long but has killed several coyotes with itand no issues, definitely holds zero.

I recently bought the XQ50 pro and finally got out this past Friday night with it. Killed 3 on one stand. Not a whole lot of time in the field but so far I'm happy with it.

tr, you entered into the night game?

Just sticking my big toe in testing the waters a bit. Not converting to a night caller until they stop coming to the call in the day.

Would you go with the thermion XG50 or the thermion 2 XQ50? They are close enough in price at euro optic not sure which is better.

I just ordered a XG50 and received it last night. I plan on mounting and zeroing it today.

It does have less but doesnt seem to be much but isnt that also due to the higher base mag than the XQ35? I dont know im just learning and seems like any thermion is a good one... ive never looked thru one so i dont even know if id notice 384 versus 640 without looking thru them side by side.

It does have less base magnification. I need low base mag. I don’t hunt big wide open areas. You would definitely be able to tell 640 from 384 especially at 2x, 3x etc. The xp50 would be perfect but that one isn’t on sale.

The way critters “pop out” with thermals l find my xg50 to be fine and l hunt in a mostly tight terrain. Now a scanner is a different story. This is the 3rd scope l have had on my rifle.

I have an xq35. Another one on order. The new sensor produces quite a bit bettrr image than the old one. Best thing is , it really cuts the humidity way better than the old ones, including my trail 2. Honestly id grab a xg50 from europtic first, while they last. I had one before. Base mag at 3x fov is fine. The image quality was comparable to the 1st gen xp50. But when you zoom the image holds together really well. My xq35 , great contrast, better battery life, when zoom it fuzzes a little more. While heat signitures stand out better, its almost too much. My 6in hong flickers when heated with xq35. With the xg and tral2 its solid.
