thermion mount

What's a good QD mount for the Thermion, that want break the bank and will hold zero after being removed and returned to the weapon (AR-15).

Since it is a 30mm scope, this question is a little harder because any good 30mm setup should work fine. However, you said you don't want to break the bank and the better QD systems are a little bit spendy. Not in compared to a 2-5K scope, but still expensive. Here would be some of the contenders:

LaRue
BOBRO
ZroDelta
American Defense
Burris AR- P.E.P.R QD

The Burris mount is probably the cheapest of the group. I have the original PEPR in a non-QD mount, and it never lost zero. Here is a guide from a magazine that tested QD scope mounts. I am surprised ZroDelta wasn't tested but you can see the results here.

I have owned the Burris P.E.P.R, ZroDelta, Bobro, and American Defense. My favorite as far as taking the scope off and on was the ZroDelta but haven't used their QD 30mm version. Good luck, let us know what you end up with and how you like it.

I have used Warne Quick Detach rings for some time and had good success with them. Not sure how they stack up against the ones Kirsch mentioned, but maybe just one more consideration. They are a bit heavy though.

Here’s one I happened to write down that I liked and will check out closer when I’m ready to buy.

A perfect mount for the Thermion for me is the LaRue Tactical LT845 QD Scope Mount. That rail on top will allow a Radius laser range finder.

Although not a high dollar set of rings or QD mount, I had very good results with the Warne QD 30 mm rings with the Photon scopes. Took them off and back on many times with no change in zero. They are not one piece however.

Sorry, I should have posted this in the thread on the Thermion. Need to pay better attention I reckon.

In my case, I switch the Apex XQ38 from a 10/22 for shooting rats at the chicken coop, to a 6x45 AR for coyotes. The dlock mount is extremely easy on and off. I could also use the scope as a scanner if I wanted and later reattach it to one of my rifles for return to zero.

6MM06 is exactly correct. Many Digital, Night Vision, and Thermal scopes provide the ability to have multiple profiles for different guns, different loads, and even different distance profiles. This allows for the same scope to be used not only for different guns but also for different purposes.

Due to this, I now have QD mounts on 3 of my glass scopes as well because I want to be able to put a glass scope back on when the gun is not being used for thermal, digital, or night vision use. Each of these 3 guns has a purpose such as rabbits at night in my back yard vs coyote hunting, etc.
