I wanted to try the other night but with the wind direction and most places I can hunt still covered in Soybeans or corn, the only property I could think of was a 20 mile ride. After calculating fuel costs vs funds vs desire to hunt I went for it. 🙂 I arrived and got setup and went through a basic set with equal stints of calling and silence. With nowhere else to go I made it a good long one at about an hour and a half before calling it quits. This place is literally the only property in this area that I have permission so It only gets called on occasion but I’ve killed 4 in a week’s time in years past. I always hear vocalizations all around in all directions, but not this time. Dead silence. Called it quits and went home.

The next day (yesterday) I mowed the lawn after work and realized that I haven’t pulled pics from my backyard trail cam in awhile. I did and not surprisingly, I found this joker posing for the camera about 40 yards from my back door! 😐

I gotta fix the time stamp as it was for sure AM. It’s NY, but it isn’t this dark at noon where I live. Maybe down in the Big Crapple?! 😂

Just thought I’d share.

Seems to have been about 10* cooler up there than here that night Bob.
It’s hit freezing temps a couple times, Mike. I however wouldn’t trust the strip temp on the camera. That camera has been taking pics on the same tree 24-7-365 since 2018 and I believe I had it elsewhere for a year or two prior to that! Pretty solid field test for Browning cams! I know we didn’t hit 22 degrees yet. Also pretty sure that not a stray from the neighborhood! 😂

That's sounds more like it here Bob, been below freezing 3 nights but not i the 20s yet--lots of frosty mornings though which is a good thing cause EHD has made it appearance again in several locations.
