Nothing wrong with the creedmoor I had one in a custom build great ballistics basically a twin to the 260 and cheap match ammo available.

Do you reload?
If you don't I would be tempted to pick a different diameter bullet, if you do I would be tempted to go 260rem. Ballistics are about the same. My understanding is that the creedmore was developed to fit VLD type bullets into the magazines of autoloaders and reliably function, you aren't building an autoloader. In favor of the 260, there is more in the way of factory ammo(albiet no hornady ammo, who makes the cheap offerings in creedmore), more/better brass, and brass can always be made out of 243/7-08/308. I am not telling you not to go creedmore, but if you are looking for the easy way to do that performance level for a 6.5 on a short action, I think it is the 260 rem.

I have a 6.5 creedmoor in a bolt gun and I love it, saying that I've never had a .260. If you read up on them you'll see people say there may be a slight accuracy advantage to the creedmoor because of the case design, but the .260 has about a 2 grain capacity advantage over the CM so in theory it could run a little faster. I think in the real world they are so close that you'd never be able to tell a difference. I know any animal you shoot won't be able to! I think the gun and the shooter will determine much more on the line then one cartridge over the other. In my CM I shoot factory match grade Hornady ammo loaded with a 140gr A-Max and the powder they run in those is H-4350. (Hornady was so nice as to print the load right on the box for me when I run out and start to reload them)If I do my part and the weather is good I can shoot a sub .25 MOA 5 shot group with this box ammo. I've only killed a couple animals with it, an antelope at over 350 that ran about 50 yards and a small 8 point whitetail at about 150 that dropped like a sack of rocks. I also just took 3rd place at the egg shoot at the PM hunt with this same gun. I've even seen a guy take an elk on tv with his 6.5 CM not that it would be my personal recommendation. Anyway just my thoughts and experiences with it, in fact I like that little case so much I'm going to build a 6mm Creedmoor for a long range yote rig!

WOW tons of informaion. thank you. I have a friend that shoots and loads the creedmoor. so that helped me decide between it and the 260. why buy dies if he's got em...ya know.

I did buy the mod. 10 predator max today. and a one piece 20 moa rail, burris tac extrem med hight rings, and a box of 142 g SMK's couldnt get ahold of any 4350 but got a pound of 4895 to start out with. gonna top it with a nikon monarch 8-24x50 bdc I bought from a PM member. when I get it togather and a few targets shot...i'll post some pics.
