thinking of going wireless, questions inside

I have been looking around at the ecaller boards and found some info on the Azden WLX-Pro unit and think that is the way I want to go. But I have also heard some mention of the Nady products. (Which model from Nady would be comparable to the Azden Unit) And which would be the better value, then the better choice as far as function. Can this same set up be made from the same type of device purchased at the local Radio Shack?

From what I can gather with the Azden unit is that the reciever part of the Azden connects to the speaker (which is placed wherever away from yourself when calling) then the transmitter part is connected to the calling device be it a cd or cassette or even an MP3 player. And that is it.
Am I getting this correct? this seems to damn easy. Am I missing a crucial part here?

You aren't missing a thing, this is damn easy. Imagine plugging a speaker into a cd player. Now imagine instead of a speaker wire a wireless transmitter plugging into your cd, mp3 player and a reciever plugging into your speaker. You now have a wireless unit ready to go.

The Nady 151 is similar to the Azden. Range and sound are very close. The Nady is slightly larger and has a "soft" antenna and only one channel. The Azden has a metal antenna, two channels and costs twice as much- $70 vs $135.

CD players are not the best way to go. My 1st call used a Sony player and I called some game. It was too big too hard to change shounds and the CD fogged up one morning which really pissed me off.

I like MP3 players. I've bought a couple and really like the Rio 600. What I like about it is the software is easy to use, takes a single AA battery and the name of the sound is displayed when playing. It does have a backlight which is a disadvantage to some.

Hope this helps,

So with the Nady 151 I can create the same set up as the one using the Advent WXL-PRO for $80 less?

Or is there some disadvantage to the Nady 151 unit? I'm just wondering why the same type unit costs half as much. I know it is not because of brand name becuase Nady is a pretty good and well known brand name. So what gives? Not that I care why it is cheaper. I just want to make sure that I wont be missing out on anything if I go with the Nady unit instead of the Advent unit.

I recently bought a home-made e-caller that consists of an MP3/Azden combo.

I am really impressed.

The other evening, I tested the range of the Azden unit. The receiver cut out at 270 yds (through trees and buildings). It would have to be a very shy predator indeed that would require that much "privacy"!

Embalmer,

Yeah, these arrangements are just that simple. It just amazes me how much punch that the Azden receiver has when it is hooked up to a small horn speaker.

STOP !

There is something with the configuration that will not work. The wireless remotes that you are refering to will not work without electronic alteration. I had to have an electronic specialist remodel the unit before it would work correct.

Good luck if you try it.....

Care to explain your cautionary note in greater detail, Macolisious?

Nadys and Azdens work with electric guitars and microphones and, oh, yeah-- MP3 callers. Very much like the new WildCat Caller...

I think I'm going to file this one in the Things That Make You Go "Hmmmm" Receptacle Under My Desk.

LionHo

(Incidentally, last night Stu Farish just added to the Tech Pages a tutorial I wrote on how you can build your own wireless remote caller with a 20KHz response.NOTE: DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!! Could be dangerous! Might get eaten by a bobcat or a lion or a tiger or a WildCat something!)

LionHo- I had filed macolisious's posts in the "things that make you go hmmm" file when I saw the top 4 posts were the same cut and paste response all praising the new wildcat caller. Me thinks he's a little tooo excited about this caller.

(edit) I'm sorry make that 5. Just found another one. Since I've never seen any posts from this member before and the first 5 that I've seen have to do with a specific product, I'm guessing that he has a vested interest in that product. I could be wrong, but let's wait and see.

Two very dead coyotes will be happy to hear that they are now alive because the setup I have couldn't have possibly worked this morning. Are you smoking dope?

The big price difference is due to the Azden having two channels and the Nady only one. The Nady footprint is a little bigger but both work well. I've tried them both. Coyotes have come to both.

Nothing worse that some dork who hasn't a clue trying to muddy water to promote another caller. There are plenty of folks who are more than willing to plop money down for a mass produced caller.
