I was wondering what your thoughts were on this firearms? I currently am using a Winchester model 94 in 30/30 which my grandfather gave me when I graduated high school

its a little old and I would like to retire it its like 60 something years old. I have seen this firearm at local gun shops it seems like a very nice rifle at a great price less then $500.

I like the box magazine the synthetic stock and the guaranteed moa at 100 yards I was looking at it in 30-06 I mostly hunt hard woods with possible shots of 100-200 yards i would shoot max.

Thanks for the advice if you have any experience with them let me know thanks.

IS the rifle American made?? I think it is.

It is a TC. What is the warranty on the rifle?? Normally TC has a good warranty, and they normally stand behind their warranty??

The rifle should be a good choice for the money. Tom.

Thats what im thinking I cant comprehend spending over $600 on a rifle im only going to use 2 weeks out of the year. Great time to look at rifles too our opener was yesterday.

I would try one if I needed something like that I wish they had some smaller calibers. It kind of falls in line with the tikkas as far as type and price point. And TC has always turned out quality stuff.

When I had my encore prohunter I had 3 different barrels for it and all of them cloverleafed

This is just my opinion. But if it is American made then it does not fall in line with a Tikka rifle. But then I guess I am on an American made kick. This Made in China crap is just really pis**** me off. Now I realize that Tikka's are not made in China. But they are not made in America either. And even if the Tikka was a little bit better(which I doubt), it would still be worth it to buy the American rifle. Tom

Heck yeah I was think this or a Ruger which is American made but the price and some other factors come into effect so i will probably get one of these bad boys. Also I will top it with a Leupold Vx2 3-9 fine glass and guess what American made.

Don't forget the factory $150.00 rebate, that makes the Venture a $350 rifle. All of the reports I have read on various sites that the T/C Icon and its variants are very accutate shooters.

Pick your caliber wisely.

Nothing wrong with either one of those calibers. 30-06 will always have ammo available just about anywhere. I shot a couple of moose with the 30-06 using hand loaded 200 grain Nosler Partitions. The first one was a pretty big guy, shot him in the adams apple, he went about 50 ft.

It's not made in america so it's as good as chinese junk right? so hypothetically you would buy an inferior product because it's american? That's patriotic. I'll give you that. I'll be buying the better product. You have to compete for my business.

The Venture should shoot very well. Seems like a nicely made rifle.

I believe that Cabelas retail stores had the T-C Venture advertised in their November flyer as having a $150.00 rebate.

I have 2 Icons and 1 Venture. ALL are crazy accurate!!. The 270 Venture shoots under.5 moa.I even shot a one holer 3 shot group with it my first time out with handloads.

TC bolt actions are really no fun to load:) for as they are very accurate and not picky at all. At least they have been for me.Its not hard to find a decent load for them.

The Icons are in 243 and 308. Both are the weathershield and synthetic stock versions. The target that came with the 308 was like.48 or close to it.The 243 I believe was .26.

I talked to a guy on another forum and he said he has a 243 Venture. He got it from Grices gun shop in PA. I called them and they claim to have SA Ventures.

The 150 dollar rebate is on Icons only as far as I know. I bought my Venture for 429. I highly doubt you will buy one for 279.00 I would buy them ALL DAY LONG at 279.00:)

CornDogg, thompson center makes great rifles for the money. they offer lifetime warranties and they are Made in the USA. I own 2 of them. One is a 204 ruger and the other is a 300 win mag. They both shoot great also. With handloaded remington accutips my 300 win mag will group into the size of quarter at 100yards. My 204 will touch bullets with my handloaded 40gr Noslers. I would recommend these rifles to any one. You cant go wrong with getting one.
