This was taken in January... with the 640 100mm Germanium. Lets just say I'm sitting on about 50 more kills that were acquired within a week or two that will be hitting the Tube shortly.

I don't know if Mr. Poppadopalis considers me to be one of the "ATN Bashers" he refers to or not, but I used to own the ATN Night Arrow 4x. It was the second night vision scope I had ever owned. It was purchased sight unseen as was every night vision scope and thermal device I have owned since. I did not like the ATN and did not keep it very long before selling it.

That being said, it was only a gen 2+ scope that sold for $1600 a few years ago. I am not sure when it was, but I believe it was 4 or 5 years ago. After I sold it I purchased a PVS-14 Gen 3 and then a D760 gen 3. I later purchased a PS32 and now I just recently purchased a RS-64 thermal. every one of these devices was purchased sight unseen because I had no where to go to look at them prior to purchase. live and learn, experience is the best teacher.

Ever since the ATN purchase I have relied on other peoples reviews and experience to guide my purchases. Ever since I started doing that I have been happy with my purchases. I can't say I love everything about everything, but generally the people on this site have given me great advise. Skypup being in the forefront of that advise and countless others with time behind the devices along with other accessories I have purchased and plan to purchase in the future.

The scope Skinney was using in this video is an $8500.00 thermal scope using the same core as a Flir I believe it didn't even exist back when I bought my ATN (to my knowledge) so this is like comparing apples to oranges the way I see it. it does look great in the video. ATN still has a lot to prove as far as warranty goes from what other people have posted, but I didn't keep mine long enough for warranty to be a problem for me.

You too can spend $8500 to form your own 1st hand opinion of this Scope if you like. I wish I could buy lots of things myself...

Any 640 17 micron core thermal with a 100mm germanium lens from any manufacturer is strictly a long range small FOV thermal for use with higher magnifications, the FLIR GS mil-spec hardened T-75 clip-on with 640 17 micron core and 120mm lens I shot hogs/coyotes with at 500 yards in the pouring rain with the SIG 716 7.62mm performs the same way.

Both the ATN and the FLIR GS instruments use the exact same FLIR TAU 2 core, the new upgraded TAU 2.72 software/firmware drivers released a few months ago would improve the performance considerably over what you see in that particular video since that ATN unit contains an older version of the TAU software upgrades.

I want to be on Skinney's team please. THank you. lol

I just got a photon xt but havve a thermal handheld.

Babysteps!lol

that was neat.do you have to spend that kind of money to get something that good.I'll have one of them if I win the lottery.thanks for sharing that

Not to detract from the excellent coyote kill video, but an ATN Gen I NV scope would have worked just as good for allot less money, just look at their ultra super high quality!

My buddy has a new x sight. Gives him fits, waiting on firmware or something. Thats digital....I think the thermal is a whole different level. Obviously ATNS thermal is quality....obviously. I would bet they come from an entirely different place than the other NV.

AND thy had the hottest models in their black skin tight jump suits at the shot show.....

LOL... I appreciate that! I certainly know not many fellas like to hunt in sideways blowing snow bringin the windchill factor well below the -20 ambient temps that we hunted in those nights... Frost bite on a couple occasions I can still feel and see peeling of the skin on my thumb and trigger finger... Always had a spare set of batteries in our pockets ready for a swap out. Ah yes, this was very fun.

I've owned a half dozen THOR's since they have came to market along with two IR Hunters and a FLIR RS64 1.1X as well. While the THOR housing has stayed basically the same ATN has continued to upgrade the firmware over the years making the Thor a very solid/proven performer in today's market.

My favorite thermal scope I own right now is one of the latest THOR 640 scopes it has been flawless software and hardware wise. Another plus for the Thor is very easy use in the field menu/control wise, a very important feature for me.

I'll buy whichever model/brand that works best for me, playing no favorites to any one. After all no one gives me any special deals or free gear (I am willing to accept free thermal gear, LOL) so I have to shop price and buy from a couple different vendors buying the best I can afford.

Thank you Mr. Skinney!

I bought a Thor 320 2x a little over a year ago and after killing over 150+ feral hogs and over 20+ dead coyotes with it,,it's Still going Strong.
No complaints.

No complaints.

All I know is we killed 50+ coyotes in a VERY short time with the THOR 640 5X in some pretty extreme conditions, -20 and well below with windchill (and tons of amazing footage)... After getting my hands on numerous units to test, I would have to say this particular model ruined me...

Good thing the Thor is working good for you because the man that created it left ATN to start up IR Defense and no one at ATN has his technical capabilities, so future improvements/updates for the Thor series will remain stagnant.

The software for the FLIR TAU microbolometer in the Thor will remain the same, so good thing you like it.

It is currently up to TAU 2.72 revision after the recent four major revisions with many more image improvement revisions to come and no way to update your current ATN cores to take advantage of the many new improvements now and in the future to your microbolometer.

Well, that's a bummer to hear. I know the technology in these units will obviously get better and better, I'm just waiting till they get these things up and running in HD output!
