THOR hunting WOW

There are cooled cores that run true HD but way too expensive for consumers and larger/heavier, that technology will not filter down to hunting market anytime soon mostly due to high cost.

The best that uncooled Vanadium Oxide cores can put out is 640X512 but the software drivers are being improved all the time and can interpolate another 25-50% up from there for higher density image quality. Your Thor instrument has the same FLIR core as my FLIRs all do, but is stuck with the original software for it at whatever date it was made, while my stuff gets new improved updates. That is the beauty of FLIR's commitment to its end users to keep them up to date as things evolve and improve over time.

That was one of the reasons I tried to get you to go with FLIR when we discussed it in PMs, but you are happy with what you have now, so just use it to the max and get the most out of it and don't cry over spilled milk, gotta love what ya got and use it to the max! Some of my older expensive thermal equipment that is now supposedly "outdated" by the latest/newest developments over the last four years still kills hogs and dogs with ease.....and they get allot of use still, in spite of being "old technology."

Well, with the numbers of coyotes that Skinney puts down, I don't think it will make much difference to the coyotes whether the software was updated.

I'm pretty sure that with his videos and obvious hunting talents any of the thermal makers will be lining up to have him as a prostaffer and probably provide the latest and best equipment free of charge. Congrats Skinney, you're some kind of coyote hunter for sure.

That's a bummer, what if he does an honest "negative" review due to some software limitations on the latest and best equipment he received free of charge, kind of like the latest ATN X-Sight fiasco.

It is better not to deal with those kinds of unethical companies that "pay for affirmative reviews" to begin with.

BTW, some of my older expensive thermal equipment that is now supposedly "outdated" by the latest/newest developments over the last four years still kills hogs and dogs with ease at the same ranges as any new equipment.....and they get allot of use still, in spite of being "old technology." The key here is to Buy Reliable gear from Reliable companies in the first place!

Sadly, I currently don't own any Thermals, I got an awesome opportunity to work with a couple great companies, basically to get the feel for, and experience multiple units from multiple manufacturers...
They will be on their way home shortly. I'd like to refer to this situation as I do suppressors and gear, I've ran a few more than most, and people come to me for an "educated opinion" because it's what I do, I get emails, PM's calls daily if not hourly, which is why I sent you a PM, I read up, and did research you seemed knowledgeable, AND gave me some awesome information I wouldn't of known otherwise. It's a no brainer for someone like me, who does this for a living, for my lively hood to work with someone who is open to 6-12 units giving me MY OWN idea of what I want, with time based in the field in the conditions we run behind the trigger...

I have an exclusive suppressor through SRT Arms, We've dubbed it the V.A.P.R. when people ask me what is the best, my can doesn't come up first, unless it's narrowed down to a specific application that the end user wants or needs...
I'm very blessed and fortunate to work with guys in the hunting/shooting industry on the level that I now do, and still have the capability to stay open to options with what I do!

I guess I'm another misguided THOR lover myself

I dropped 30k in thermal scopes the last 12 months including FLIR RS, IR Defense and THOR's. My go to scope is the Thor 640 right now great overall performance and ease of use in the field plus zero software or other issues. That could change at anytime because I'm always buying new gear and play zero favorites to anyone.

Customer service wise from my experience I would rate FLIR #1 by a long shot their freaking awsome, now a shocker: ATN # 2 they have been very good from my dealings and last IR Defense. The reason on IR defense being last is I still own a MK I which was advertised to work as a clip one but it never worked that way, two I've had some annoying software issues with the MK I scope that IR defense never has addressed going on 1 year now. I keep getting told new software upgrades are in the works but they never come? Personally, I like the MK I scope overall it's fa good hunting scope, but I feel like IR defense Walked away from MK I owners in favor of getting the MK II to market. What happens to MK II owners when the MK III comes out? Like it or not that's statement above is fact. FLIR and ATN both seem to upgrade software and features on a regular schedule.

That said, I think once IR defense works through a few software issues on the MK II I would rate it number one in thermal scope's for the money. I'm not blind their MK II scope is awsome I demo one a few weeks back.

They are all good units, [beeep] any thermal is a good investment if you do not currently have one!

Get what ya want and use it whereever ya go, it will totally change your night predator and vermin hunts no matter who makes it.

If you plan on keeping your instruments for extended time frames, like 5+ years, like me, then customer service and continuing end user support/warranties constitute a positive long term investment.

Very true and in that regard I see no one beating FLIR period. The RS line is nice but I feel it could be ever better with a few changes. The main reason I choose FLIR products a lot of times is their service after the sale.

Ain't that the truth. A person hits it hard for awhile and you begin to feel like you are back in college. Dead tired all day, wide awake come midnight.

That means a lot buddy, I really do appreciate that.
Thank You!

Has to do with the video playback of the cables used. Real time they're there of course. Our new Mini-DVD kits, rifle/helmet pouch and cables will enable the horizontal portions to be seen. These will be out in a few weeks.
