Thoughts on a 6x250 Imp?

Sure! Why not? I knew a guy that had one built on an XP-100 action and it shot superduper! He had a 7mm version of it too that was his deer gun.

One friend has one now but its a tight neck, He's getting a new reamer built and ordering a new barrel to build another. Another friend use to have one long ago. My 22-250 AI is getting some miles on it and may need a barrel before long. I'm thinking, friend with a new reamer, new barrel, hmmm! And the 6-250AI with a fast twist barrel and I have tons of brass. Well maybe not tons but a lot. Might be worth some thought!!!

In that case, it would be a worthy consideration.

Although that 22-250 brass could be used for a Creedmoor or X47L too...

Either way, 8 twist the bbl.

Ackleyman here on the site has plenty of experience with the 6/250 and the AI version.

One of the pro's are lots of 22-250 brass around of good quality.

Personally, I would do a 6 creedmoor before I did 6x250. You get a little more horse power. Brass and dies are not really an issue with either one, but I would rather have one running a tad below max, rather than having to lean on one for the same velocity/bullet.

I shot the barrel out of two 6/250 AI's on p. dog towns, 11 twist Pac Nor barrels.

In a 28" barrel, I shot the 70g what evers at 3800, tiny, tiny groups with Win 760.

This case is right on the heels of a 243 AI, but in a shorter package.

The 6/250 AI has more capacity than the 6x47 Lapua, and would have to do some measuring to see how it compares to a 6 Creed.

I never have had any problems feeding the 250 AI out of a rem 700...never.

I usually fire form on hair. I sold the reamer and Dies, I could kick myself for that...as the mule that I bought with the money almost killed me running off as soon as my butt hit the saddle with only one foot in the stirrup.

I would highly recommend the 6/250 AI as there will be plenty of magazine box length left to chase the lands vs longer cases.
Over the past few years, I am shocked as to why no more people have tried this case. You could fire form with 14-15g of Bullseye and Cream of wheat if you don't like to hunt with fire forming loads. My fire form loads were around 3/8". My dad massacred p. dogs at 600 yards with this rifle...his last hunt.

Was hoping ou would come along and give your thoughts Keith. I just think it would be a good upgrade to the soon to be shot out 22-250AI barrel thats on the rifle now. Can I just neck up the 22-250AI brass to 6-250AI or would I have to start from scratch and fireform new brass?

Not to hi-jack but isn't the 6X250 getting pretty close to the old "obsolete" 250 Savage the 22/250's based on.....

Not that I give a chit but it kinda strikes me funny that first they neck the 250 Savage down to 22/250 and now we neck the 22/250 back up to 243/6MM....

Seems like in the never ending quest for something "new and improved" we've gone full circle.....

And yea....I know....it's AI'd but you can do that to any case.....

Yeah, but the 6mm/.250 AI is very efficient. Not a whole lotta powder for some .243 Winchester speeds. Supposed to be really accurate too.

Besides, when do we ever need a reason to do something different? It kinda fun to have something odd and unusual. Just ask my wife. She has been married to an odd and usual for three decades now.

What is funny is that everyone thinks the 6.5 creed is new and the best thing ever. When it has been done over and over again. The 6-250AI is a great little round that is simple wildcat. I love the parent case Wichita I shoot a ton. I don't currently own a 6-250AI but my 243 AI has been a great hunting round and when this barrel is done it will be a 6-250 or a 6x47 just not sure wich yet. I'm thinking the Lapua will win just for the fact of less powder capacity because it will have a 18 inch barrel.

I would do the 6-250ai in a second.

Couldn't you just AI a 250 Savage......

And no.....you don't need a reason

....I was just pointing out that like many of the latest/greatest things in life it's kind of redundant.....

You have to admit....necking a cartridge down and then necking it back up to within .001 of where you started from is kinda redundant.....humorous....but redundant....
