Thoughts on Boyd's Laminate Thumbhole Stocks

I'm seriously considering putting one of these on my heavy barreled .22-250 (Rem 700). Anybody have any thoughts on these? Seem pretty cheap as far as price is concerned.

Otherwise, I was looking at those at Stocky's. Those are quite a bit more money, just wonder if they are any better.

The Boyd's are excellent. I put a benchrest riffle in one when it was retired from bench... it is well made and well finished, and fit is fantastic. I would get one again in a heart beat.

Boyd's has supplied stocks to Remington.

Planning on doing the same thing with a Stevens 200 30-06, just gotta find the time. Hopefully it is truly a "drop in" like they claim. Keep us posted.

Working on #6, here. You just can't beat them for quality and
finish for one costing several times what the Boyd's cost. I
pillar bed the stocks on all, and have to open up the barrel
channel for larger barrels. They are nice to work with. Even
one they called semi-inlet required very little work with a
Dremel to get the action into the stock. If I need another, I'll
be shopping on the Boyd's web site.

#2 here and will not hesitate to purchase another.

I just got two Boyd's stocks last week. One was the thumbhole that I plan on using for my 6BR build and the other is for a Ruger 22-250. That one is the Praire Hunter and is very nice. I have the pillars bedded and plan on bedding the action tonight after work. I will also bed the 6BR action. I like the finish on both. I will buy again when the time comes.

Another Options:

I recently bought a stock from Richards Microfit. I was unsure how I would like a thumbhole stock so I bought their dual grip stock. You can use the thumbhole or grip it like a regular stock. That would be more useful if there is lefty that might use it too. It required just a little fitting, sanding and finishing. I'm almost done with it and I really like the way it is turning out. (Warning - The rosewood stock arrives much pinker than how it looks on the internet.) I think it was only about $50 more than a Boyd's.
