Thoughts on The Bushnell Banner 4-12X40 AO $98

Looking at a Bushnell Banner scope in 4-12x70 with AO for my Savage 204 Ruger. The scope is made in Korea as opposed to China.

I have an Elite 3200 Target 10X40 Mil-dot and it's a great scope. I know the Banner is not in the same league, but for the $$ it seems to be a good scope.

Your counsel is always appreciated! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

I have had the 4X12 banner and I replaced it with a 5X15 3200. Its hard to believe that those scopes are sold by the same company.
My biggest complaint was and still is that It makes no sense to have a higher powered scope that cant be focused clearly . I found that while shooting it I could not get a clear picture on any setting above 6 power, I surely thought that the scope was defective so I sent it back only to to have bushnell tell me there was nothing wrong with it. Luckily for me the shop I purchased it in gave me full value of the scope towards the 3200. For what its worth- the banner seems to be fairly popular around here, and every one Ive tinkered with has this same issue- Bottom line- you get exactly what you pay for.

As I get older an older what constitutes a good scope gets redefined often, and as it stands now I would rather have a good quality 3 power scope than a mediocre 12 power. That 204 is capable of quite a bit. If it were me, Id try to find a good El Paso made weaver for around 100 bucks. Or save up and get another 10X40 3200- afterall, you already know you like it.
Hope that helped.

I have one that's about 4-5 yrs old on one of my 10-22s. Works great. Clear picture. Doesn't fog. Don't know if it's Chinese or Korean.

I have about 4 of them. I have one on my 204 and 22-250 and am more than happy with it. Both guns will shoot 9/16" groups.

I've got 2 of them. One works great not the best glass but pretty clear. The other one has a problem with the magnification adjustment you have to just about use a pipe wrench to change the setting. I don't have any shifting problems or fogging just the magnification ring on 1 of the 2.

Stealth,
I have a 6-18-50 banner and a 5-15-40 Legend and they are both great scopes. no problems with ether one of them. I also have no idea who made them, not that it matters.

Happy hunting .. Emilio .. Pico Rivera Ca.
