Thoughts on the S-tac 4-20x50mm MOE 2 reticle

I need a decent yet reasonable scope for a HB 222 Rem for punching paper and maybe some colony varmints. These are available for $379 and free shipping.

I have the S-tac in 3-16 on my HD 20P and love it.

I have seven 3-16x42 S-Tacs, and would have zero issues buying a 4-20 to add to the mix.

Cameraland has them for 399 with free shipping and no sales tax.

BIL was commenting this week while shooting pd, "I'm ordering a stac 4-20 to replace the scope on my 222R". He has a s11 3-16x40 on it now. Likes the 4-20/50 on his 223r more. I have several stac 4-20 both moa and duplex. I don't hunt coyote with the moa2 reticle, it's to hard to see early and late. The illuminated reticle would help, but costs quite a bit more. The moa2 reticle 4-20 is what I use for load development work on most rifles.

Haven't used that scope but have several Arken optics that I have been pleased with in that price range. Cone in moa or mil also . They are running a 25% off for the 4th of July I believe. They are a big scope with 34mm tube.

I have the same scope on my Tikka T1x rimfire and love it. I bought mine used from a friend and wish he had a few more for what I bought it for.

I bought the S-tac 4-20. It is mounted and Thursday I'll head to the range.

Interesting sidenote, I do a lot of business with Cameralandny and they were the supplier through Amazon. I ordered the scope Saturday afternoon, yesterday while I was eating lunch UPS delivered it. Hard to beat service like that.

Redhaze thanks for the heads up. When are we going to lunch? It's warm here now.

i been running a, STAC #26020 . ( FFP ) 3-16 x42 , MOA-5 Ret. for over a year, mounted on a AR coyote hunting with it . Sightron/made in Philippines .
Over All it is a good usable Scope . is a good bang for your Buck-$
I have had it all over night hunting and at the Range moving at least 500+ round looking threw it. also bagged laying in rear floor in the truck and hauling it around. it Holds/keeps a Zero/POI .

Not to big, or heavy a scope . Glass is just OK, usable.. but it is a sub. 1-k-$ scope . it fairly clear but glass suffers some on the overcast dimmer light times. The fine focal clarity and color does not pop like higher-end-$ scopes with better glass .

Tracks Elev. and wind good , only Negative is the Elevation and wind Knobs Shapes is a little big aggressive sharp.they snaggy and I don't care for the feel.
FFP/MOA-5 . I like the Reticle. and has good Illum. it works in daytime, also adjust 'looks good' when I put a NV clip-on in front of the Obj. for Night hunting.
.

I have that scope. It's an excellent value. Hard to beat for the money. Decent glass and returns to zero every time like a champ.

I have 3 I’ve them. 2 with MOA2 and one with the duplex. I like them for shooting prairie dogs. As mentioned before, the MOA reticle is too thin for hunting in my opinion but great for colony varmint shooting and paper punching. The duplex version is just the opposite. Good for coyote/deer/whatever hunting but a bit thick for paper punching.

At 20x it is a little tight, but not as bad as my Weaver 4-16. I shot it today and I like it a lot. It is brutally hot and windy and I have to get 5 targets in for a 222 Rem postal BR match. This scope is nice.for.this. I'm happy with the first target. I'm using the rifle I built for and won the egg shoot.

Looking for something that can be used for both load development and P-Dog. I've looked through many Slll but never a Tac. I just sold a Vortex Viper HS as the reticle was a too thick.

I want to try something with a floating dot and I'll add this to my list of possibilities.

Thanks for the response.
