Threading a shotgun barrel

I’ve been contemplating threading my Beretta 1301 Tactical Gen1 barrel for sometime. Gen 2’s comes threaded. I just want to make the gun more versatile to shoot. I’m not sure on how to go about this. There’s not a lot of gunsmiths in my area, or should I say trust. If anyone can point me in the direction of a good company to do this I’d appreciate it. Opinions on whether not to do this are welcome also.

Briley down in Texas is the one that does primo top shelf work. They did my Super 90 before Benelli offered chokes.

Briley or Mike Orlen, either one is top notch. I would suggest the Mobile Choke set up. That is the standard Beretta/Benelli choke and is commonly available in both factory and custom choke makers products.

Also check out Carlson's to get your barrel threaded for chokes. From either Briley or Carlson't I don't think you have much of a choice on what type of choke they thread the barrel for.

When you send a barrel to Carlson make sure you tape a message to your barrel of what type of choke threading you want and your phone number. They did a nice job but did not contact me on what kind I wanted. Somebody jump the gun.

You need to talk with them "Briley or Carlson's" before you send them your barrel. You may not have a option to chose what choke type you want. On some barrels there maybe only one or two types of chokes that will work on your barrel.

I sent a 870 barrel to Briley’s 35 years ago to be threaded for chokes. They know all there is to know about a shotgun, back then they sent the hand machined tubes out in actual pill bottles. Lol!
