Tikka T3x vertical grip

Anybody swap out the standard grip on the factory T3x stock for the optional vertical grip? Or has anyone had the opportunity to try both the polymer vertical grip and the soft feel vertical grip? Just looking for opinions. They get decent reviews elsewhere but some say they’re kind of bulky feeling.

Seems like a decent factory stock so trying some economical upgrades. I just added a victor cheek riser to the stock and got that set where I need it. Want to try to get a better, more consistent trigger pull.

No but I altered one and attached it to my Savage Scout and love it! As close as I could get to an AR pistol grip without actually adding a pistol grip. Provides much more leverage to pull rifle into shoulder than conventional stocks. Don't remember what I paid for it but it sure wasn't $40. Guest Bidenomics affecting all aspects of the economy. :(

I have thought about trying one on my Tikka also.

The Howa that I just bought, the grip drops down a good bit more than most of my rifles and I really like it.

Just today I spent a little time looking for a vertical grip for my T3X. I have used them before and really like the feel. Amazon or E bay had them but I thought they were over priced compared to Optics Planet by about $10. I think it was Optics Planet, now I'm not to sure. Great memory.....just short. If and when I find a black one I'll order it.

Thanks for the reply. I spent some time as well and everyone seems to be out of stock unless you go with other colors besides black. I want to say amazon had 10 available on Sunday in black and I just looked this morning and they were down to 5 available. I said screw it and ordered one. $40 is steep but I have Prime so free shipping. If I waited for a cheaper option elsewhere the shipping would probably drive the price back up anyways?

I could probably use a brown one and it would look OK as my stock is camo but I prefer a black one. I may have to do the same as you and just suck it up.

Another advantage of the straight pistol grip is that it provides for a more horizontal position of trigger finger. The old standard pistol grip calls for an angled position of trigger finger requiring a bit more pressure to trip any given trigger. Straight pull is worth a few oz. lighter trigger pull.

That’s the main reason I want to try one.

I think you'll appreciate that factor. Wasn't all that important on the Savage due to the accutrigger, but it positions trigger finger lower on the trigger for mechanical advantage in addition to making for a straighter pull.

Check the beretta website. I bought one on there a few months back for dirt cheap and the shipping was only around $8.

The vertical grip is a great upgrade to that stock.

They didn’t have black but back ordering was possible. I think they had brown but I looked at so many websites trying to find a cheaper one it’s all kinda blurring together. They may have had the soft feel in black but it was more expensive than the harf one on Amazon.

The black soft touch are some what available but one guy said they get dirty really fast and aren't that soft. I found one place that had the black for $19.95 but wanted $20 to ship it. No savings there. Like said, I've looked so many places it all gets scrambled where I have looked.

Not to big on pink but they do have orange. At least I might not loose my rifle in the grass. Thought about a brown one. It might be close to the same color of the Veil camo. And, there is always Krylon!!

I was pretty close to getting the brown one. The Victor Titan cheek rest I put on it is brown. I kinda wanted a little contrast to the black. I really thought there was a pretty low chance the brown grip would match the cheek riser so decided on sticking with the black. Aesthetics aren’t my top priority, but I really don’t want a rifle that resembles a patchwork quilt either! Lol…

I don’t have the vertical grip, but I did swap out for the Soft Touch grip and forend.
The regular was downright offensive feeling in the hand. I would like to try the vertical grip but haven’t been able to find a soft one.

The soft touch and the other colors are pretty easy to find but the soft touch are more expensive. Seems the black grip is a hot item. They are always out of stock. You would think Tikka would just put them on from the factory but they couldn't make any extra money that way.

The grip showed up today. I mounted it up in about 2 minutes. I think I’m going to like it but I’m not making any predictions until I get some trigger time with it installed.

First impressions… It fits well and installation was a snap. I can see why some people say it’s bulky or a handful. It has pretty hefty palm swells. My guess id people that think it is too much are people grabbing it like a traditional grip with their thumb wrapped around it instead of a more relaxed position on top or alongside it? Its position does get your finger into a position that should aid in a more linear trigger pull straight back.
