Tips for solid carry handle scope mount?

I have a scope mounted on the carry handle of my Colt A2. I'm using a one piece mount with a single threaded post/nut to attach the mount to the carry handle. The threaded post goes through the stock hole in the middle of the carry handle.

I think this single attachment point is a weak link and behind why I get some moderate POI shift whenever I take it to the range. I have considered buying a flattop upper but would be satisfied if I could simply find a better way to attach the mount. Is there a mount or a trick to further clamp it to the carry handle?

I do not want to drill additional holes. I've heard of bedding the mount. I'm hoping there is a special clamp or something I can get to augment the single post/nut it uses.

My buddy had the same problem with his A2 and he thought that drilling extra holes would be his only option also and he traded for a flattop...Maybe someone here can help...

svt,

Mine is not that brand but is more or less the same design. Funny thing is I always felt mine held zero fine but I wasn't actually using the rifle very much. I've been carrying the rifle a lot more the past few months and suspect that single point of attachment isn't as secure as it feels (at least mine).

I have a "single screw" type mount on another rifle but it also has an integrated lip that also helps hold it in place. This type of mound does not.

That or my scope is dying!

I do have a cheekpiece available to get your head up where it needs to be on a high mounted scope. PM me if you think you need it. It looks like this.

I had luck when I wiggled the mount as I was tightening the mounting screw. Made it more consistent when taking off and putting on. Obviously, make sure the screw is tight. You can also glass bed the mount, but it gets bedding on the carry handle, which you may not want to do.

I played with the same mount, never was happy with it. I thought about bedding it into the handle but it seemed like a lot of work for a bandaid fix for optics. For me there's no reason to have a carry handle so swapped it for a flat-top. Much happier now.

I put a DNZ Freadom Reaper 1-piece mount on my son's AR to mount a new Nikon M-223. I have had excellent luck with their one piece mount on my M700 and thought I'd try this thing.

It's rock solid and ergonomically I find it better than going flat top.

I have an old skinny barrel A1 style AR and I noticed the same thing. Someone gave me a pretty cheap 3 power scope that mounts on the carry handle and I noticed shifting groups. For a cheap scope it is not that bad and easy to mount. I think I am going to bed the scope mount with epoxy with the thought of filling in around the screw to take up the slack of the hole in the carry handle. Mine has a spring loaded nut on the mount that I don't think it tightens up enough to take out all movement during recoil. I've been going to do this for awhile but been playing more and more with my new Plum Crazy lower with flat top upper. I'll try to get some ammo loaded up and to the range this weekend. If you try this use a release agent, I use black shoe polish, or your scope mount will be permanent.
