one quick and easy way that i've tanned hides with is a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and turpentine. put enough in a 5 gallon pail to cover the hide, stir it every day(because the two chemicals will separate) and after about 7 to 10 days you'll have a pretty nice tanned skin. after that just oil it lightely to keep it soft. i tried that on a fox pelt two years ago and i haven't lost a hair off of it and it is as soft as can be.anybody else every try this method??
