Trail Camera Coyotes

Here is a compilation of a few trail camera videos. Thanks to NewYorkHillbilly for informing me about the Mediase trail cameras. I really like them. The microphone is very sensitive, which is great unless there is strong wind. You can hear the coyotes chewing on the carcass.

These three coyotes were the last ones I got at the end of my season and were the last three I shot in my recent video. The last one was the infamous Tripod.

Neat vids. Question for you guys that watch bait. Do they always act as 'jittery' as these did or was it the lights/emitters?
Thanks, Mike

Same here, they are VERY cautious and tentative approaching the bait. When I first started baiting I hung a carcass and mounted two trail cams. I have pictures of coyotes sitting on their haunches 15 - 20 feet away just staring at the carcass. They would visit regularly but wouldn't go near it. Took like two weeks before they got up the nerve to start chewing on it.

A few here have been very IR light sensitive also. Guess they can see that tiny little red light just fine. I started using an 840 and that helped quite a bit.

Here's what a 950nm (Sniper Hog Light) looks like when it's captured by a trail camera. That's me in the background (150 yds) getting ready to drop the hammer on that coyote.
He wasn't crazy about my IR light but when the trail cam triggered and that IR light came on he got really spooked. I didn't have time to recover and shoot him.

What Don P said - they are very cautious at the bait, seem to always be expecting danger. I have had multiple coyotes look up to the top of a walnut tree as if they are expecting danger there. I have had coyotes in the field a distance from the bait, knowing the bait is there and just trot off and not go to it.

One thing I have learned with video instead of photos is that coyotes are definitely individuals with regards to tolerance. Some practically jump out of their skin when the trail camera turns on while others pay little attention to it. Same for weapon mounted IR light.
