Trail Camera

Just purchased a Cuddeback trail camera and was wondering if anyone has ever photographed a coyote or bobcat by baiting a site near the Cuddeback camera? If so, any ideas on bait. I just want to see if my land houses any predators. Thanks!

I have used a trail camera and have found areas of coyotes and fishercat. However, I got mostly pictures of fishercat and raccoons, possum, etc. I only got 1 coyote.
I used sardines and canned dog food as well as some cheap meat cuts and even some table scraps for bait. I also used crushed garlic that I crushed myself.

Hope this helps,

Basil

Hey Doc....

Last year, had my Cuddeback set up at my feeder catching hogs and deer coming in. Boy was I suprised when I checked it and found a huge Bobcat that was walking by feeder. I'm sure it was looking for Quail and Dove that had been coming in....Got this Bobcat on three different occasions.

Dr Coyote’s opinion of the Cuddeback 3.0:

Just received the digital camera from Cabelas and was a bit disappointed in the construction / “included contents” (see points below). Shortly after installing 4 D batteries into the camera, I realized there was no readout on the LCD as promised in the manual. Therefore, I re-inserted the batteries (still nothing) and pushed the button marked M. Finally, the LCD provided the expected readout. To make a long story short, I tried the camera inside with marginal results. Though, I do realize the camera will take a better photo out of doors and will probably view better on a computer screen (instead of the low resolution of a TV).

My biggest disappointments are below:

1. The weather seal / construction of the camera was just ok. The weather-stripping appears to be missing around the compact flash card area. I hope this is not a problem.

2. Major problem with the compact flash eject button. The card does not eject enough to be able to remove it easily (had to use tweezers to remove it). Anyone have any better ideas?

3. While deleting / viewing pictures on a TV screen, I notice the Cuddeback kept locking up after attempting to delete a picture. I had to remove the batteries to turn the camera off before I could view again. This is a reoccurring problem.

4. For the price, Cuddeback should have included the master lock, flash media card (even if 64 mb) and cables for viewing on TV / PC. I did purchase a 512 mb flash media card and card reader.

Overall, I will return the camera if the pictures and ease of operation in the field don't improve. The camera, with included accessories, is not worth $399.

Okay, I must admit, the camera that I spoke about above is actually doing everything it was intended to do. I still feel the media card slot needs some work, though.

Oh yeah, I never get a blank picture...trigger speed means everything...Cuddeback rules.
