I want to get into trapping coyote and bobcat, what size trap and brand would you recommend? I did a lot of coon trapping when I was growing up in New York. But now I leaving in Idaho I'm looking for other ways to put a little more fur on boards besides calling, Thanks for advice...

I use Bridger #2's. Some trappers prefer #3's but I find the 2's to be a good all around trap. So long as they're placed and bedded properly you'll get good pad catches on coyotes. And no probs with cats or fox. One of nice features of the Bridgers is a swivel already installed at the end of the chain....and the chain is attached to the trap via a D-ring on the base. Not as good as a swivel drilled/attached into the center of the base...but not bad. The end points of the jaws that pass thru the hinge holes are turned up as well...adds strength/reliability to the trap.

I like to use as large a trap as possible. #3's are great. Just about any breand trap will do ya as they all need a bit of adjusting first. Check your state regs. as to max jaw spread and if they need to be offset or not. Don't want to get into trouble over something simple.

Check out Minnesota trapline Products. Great people and good prices. http://www.minntrapprod.com/

Goos luck.
