Trio MP3 files question

I received my Trio MP3 player, got a 1GB card cheaper than the 512MB I had tried to order. Downloaded a few sounds. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Works great with my Dennis Kirk remote call. Works great with my homemade Radio Shack call. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

But is there any way to rearrange the sounds on the Trio, other than just delete and put them back in the new order?

I tried hooking it to the computer and rearranging the icons, but the sounds on the Trio did not move....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I think you are stuck with the files played in the order you loaded them to the Trio. You need to delete them all and write them back in the order you want them to play.

Thanks, Al. That was the only apparent option. But as I get familiar with manipulating the files, it really isn't too bad. I guess............

I noticed the same thing on my Trio. I haven't used the software that came with it yet- supposed to act as a card reader? Maybe via that software you can rearrange the order of the files on the card? Not sure what capability that software has for the Trio and card.

Just a thought,

Joe

I don't have a trio but for mine this is what I do. Once I put the files onto the player I edit the names by adding a number in front of the name, 01, 02, 03, 04.. etc. Then they can be sorted numerically. Try that see if it works.

Check and see if the Trio has a playlist function. I'm using an Insigna. I load one copy of each sound then create a play list that looks something like this:

Silence .15,
Interogation Howl,
cottontail distress,
silence 60,
Cottentail distress etc.

I then create muliple playlists in varing lengths.

Another option is use gold wave to create an entire set from multiple tracks. (Varmit Al's web site has a couple you can download) Then add this newly create set to the playlist along with lip squeak. I start the play list and when one show's up hit skip forward and it starts the lip squeaks.

I have to use the program that came with the player to create the play list.

I have not used the disk, because the instructions say it is for Win98......... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I use the Trio and also add numbers in front of the file names. By doing this it puts them in the order of the numbers. After I have all of them on the disk I print a credit card size list of the sounds in the order they are on the card so I can go to a certain sound when needed.(Don't tape the print off to the back as you will need to replace batteries, I took some 4" mylar tape & laminated so the weather wouldn't cause the ink to run or paper to get messed up so easy.)

Navy-

I use Audacity and create the file with whatever tracks i want. the Trio just shows it as a numbered file no matter what name I assign to it when its created. I don't think it has any playlist function.

Adwolfe-
do I understand that in creating the file you number it where you want it to appear on the Trio and the Trio sets the files up in that numbered sequence? You must have the various sounds set up as separate files then? distressed rabbit, hurt coyote pup, lone howl, etc.?

I don't find any playlist function, but don't really know what I am doing, as this is my first experience with MP3 players.

So, I just took the easy way out. Used Goldwave to set up 17 sounds like I want them on the MP3, then put them on it in that order. My calls are all 30 minutes, with 3 minutes of silence at the end of each so I have plenty of time to stop it before it switches to the next track.

Then, for kicks (lunchtime music?) I copied a couple of my favorite music CDs after the screams and squals! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif (My 1GB card is still only a bit over half full.)

I do have my entire list taped on the back of the Trio; the print is small, and it is in 2 sections to allow access to the battery. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I'm having fun with this thing, and it seems real satisfactory. Maybe I'll get it out in the field tomorrow, and wring it out under real-life conditions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
