Trying to catch a wise armadillo!

An Armadillo has just been destroying our yard almost every night. I saw him one night and by the time I got my bow and flashlight he was gone. So I set up this trap to try to catch it and guess what? He ain't been back since! Maybe tonight will be the night. I'd just leave the trap out if it would keep it away but the neighbors think I'm insane (like they needed the trap to think that anyway).

Oh by the way, the long rope is just in case I catch a skunk! LOL

Bait your trap with a rotten banana peel. Take a bunch of bananas, peel them, eat the banana, stick the peels in a wal-mart bag, and let them rot until they stink real bad(preferably hanging in a tree outside). Then put the stink in your trap. The armadillos are attracted by two things. Worms/bugs and the smell of another armadillo. When a banana peel rots, it smells pretty close to an armadillo. I used a trap a few years ago and caught the heck out of them using banana peels. If your trap is made out of wood, leave an armadillo in it a few days for it's aroma to sink into the wood. 'Bout 3 days should do it. Make sure the animal has water and a little food so it doesn't die. You'll never catch another one in it if it dies in there.

Inventive, let us know if it works (and what you do with that skunk).

I bought my Dad (non-shooter cause of eyesight) a little "youth" .22 lever action, I forget if it is a Marlin or a Henry, for the same problem.

With .22 shorts it is very quiet, not even as loud as as the single shot air rifle he was trying to use, and doesn't bother the neighbors. He can't see sights anymore, even in daylight, so I mounted an air gun laser sight (Crossman?) for about $15 and he can head shoot em every time. I still haven't convinced Mom that they are good to eat though.

It will be passed on to my grandson so he will have a rifle that was his Great Grandpa's in his collection.

Well I didn't get it with the trap or even the rotten banana peels, but I did get two of them with a flashlight and a 22 LR! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell on me!
