Bought some Lyman tufnut media today (haven't bought media in alot of years! )
Ok so its nut shell media and it has a rouge added to it, like a red dye type of stuff my
Question is should I rinse the pollished cases off in something to get the rouge out of the cases?
Sorry for a stupid question, but I've never used media like this before.
It did a great job polishing
Thanks guys!

Yes... wash them in a good dish detergent - dry them with your wife's hair drier - that rouge is about eleventy million times harder than steel and you don't want it anyway near dies or guns.

So, why would they put that stuff in the media if it's that hard on the barrel? Having to rinse them out and blowdry them seems like a PITA to me, and something I wouldn't really want to do to my brass.

Cuz guys like shiny brass.

If a guy shoots a Savage it might be good to add more polish to the media and not wash it off after tumbling.

Yea Larry, I get really shiny brass without any of that rouge crap in my media...couple dollips of some brass polish and I'm good to go...mirror finish I tell ya.

I got that one, might work better than Tubbs bullets or lapping compound to smooth out Savage barrels

I would not use brass polish as an additive to tumbling media because it has ammonia as an ingredient. Ammonia will make brass turn brittle, and that is the last thing you want to happen to your brass.

I've been using the Tuff Nut media for years and never worried about any residue left inside the cases...And, it's never caused me a problem that I could find...

If it's something that really bothers you, wipe down the inside of each case with a dry Q-tip...I try never to get any moisture inside of my cases due to the potential for some to hide in a corner and contaminate my powder...that red dust that is left in the case won't harm it...

I also use some the Lyman rejuvenator when it starts taking longer to get the same degree of polished look on my cases...Just add a capfull to the media and let it run for ten minutes and you'll be good to go...Depending on my rate of use, I've had the same batch last me for up to a year..IMHO it's the best bang for the buck..

According to Lyman there is no need to clean the rouge from inside the cases, they did recommend wipeing the outside however
Lyman said the rouge will not harm dies or firearms in any way shape or form.
Thanks for all the input guys really like all advice I get here!
