as some may know im a new reloader and was going to buy a tumbler until i read some reviews, now i dont know whether to buy a tumbler, ultra sonic cleaner or this stainless tumbling media tumbler? anyone have any info on these?

I have a Lyman Turbo Vibratory tumbler. I use "reptile bedding" crushed walnut. It is much cheaper then the commercially packaged stuff. I wash it in a very fine strainer to rid the dust and add some dryer sheet strips. It works just fine. I typically toss the brass in before I go to bed and unplug in the AM. It may be overkill, but it works and I don't have to listen to the jingle jangle of it.

I think that each method has it's advantages.

For my rifle brass, I use the SS media. It gets the brass 100% clean, inside and out, in a couple of hours. Tumbler capacity is limited to about 2 pounds of brass, so batches are relatively small. I'm not a high volume rifle shooter, and more concerned with percision than production. My rifle reloading routine is a little OCD.

For pistol brass, I use the vibratory tumbler and corn cob from Walmart. It gets the brass "clean enough", and I can do large volumes. With pistol loads, I'm not as concerned about the cases being spotless.

If you want something that is quick and even gets the primer pockets clean go Ultrasonic. Your brass will be very clean inside and out, might not be super shiny as tumbled brass but a lot cleaner. I am talking Corn Cob or ground Walnut shell tumbled.

I can not comment on the SS media as I have never used it.
