*Turkey call for coyoteS*

Can i use a turkey call and decoy for calling coyotes? What time of the year is this best to use? Is there a cd or tape for calling coyotes that is turkey recordings?
 
You can use turkey calls to call coyotes they work well!! I use them alot,doesnt seem to matter what time of year it is.I have had them come in to a turkey decoy before.

There are a couple diffrent call companys that make turkey tapes.I use the destress young turkey tape alot and you can also use a mouth call to sound like a destressed turkey. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
I agree with keekeeyelp. I’ve called coyotes into turkey calls. I suspect a turkey decoy would be a plus BUT check your local game regulations. During turkey season here in Tn it is legal to use decoys but very illegal to use e/callers and rifles for turkey. If your laws are the same there, it might be hard to explain to the game warden and judge that you were really coyote hunting and not after the feathered critters.
 
I have called in some coyotes and a bobcat with the gobbler distress and a decoy. All seem like the were curious to the sounds but were not interested in taking on the decoy. They never came closer than 100 yards but that was close enough. I have quit using this set up but it did work for me.
 
I have turkey peep sounds that I recorded.
I have found that along with hen yelps works the best. I called in several coyotes with this combo. I have also called in several with just hen yelps while turkey hunting. Once saw a video of a coyote attacking a turkey decoy.
 
Just about any sporting goods store that sells js predator tapes will order it for you if they dont stock it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
Last Saturday morning I set up using the gobbler distress on my JS preymaster and set up the enticer decoy by the speaker aprox. 50 feet from me. About 2 to 3 minutes into calling, the coyote came in from behind me, and stopped about 25 feet from me. Then he crossed the creek making a little circle and came 15 steps from me."Dead dog" The gobbler distress and enticer decoy did its job for me.

I have also had good luck calling coyotes in with turkey sounds, the only problem is local game laws. Here in colorado during the spring turkey season it is shotgun only. Not sure about e-callers being legal.
