I always scan the area as soon as i leave the vehicle as i have many a time shot foxs in the first field lamped, if nothing is spoted in the first five or ten mins then the call will be used,some of the ground i shoot unless they look at the lamp you dont see them they blend in that well,when a fox is spotted i like to keep the lamp in front of them just enough to see them then lift it higher when i am about to take the shot,every one has different ways of lamping so just go with whatever works for you best ,and the best of luck to you
