Well, its raining cats and dogs and the wind is howling pretty good down south here tonight. Was thinking about hunting yotes but the more I thought about it I doubt if they would be very active in these weather conditions.

That got me thinking and wanted to ask the hive if there are weather conditions that keep the coyotes from coming out to play at night? Seems like I've read if the winds are over 20mph might as well forget it.

Since I'm fairly new to this game I thought I'd ask, specifically for baiting type hunting.

I can't speak for any coyotes as to how bad of weather they will "get out" in, but I do know when it's raining and windy they don't have to worry about me lol. Now if I had a dry shack, maybe heated, to sit in and watch a bait pile, I might give it a try.

LOL I should have clarified...I do have a dry shack (garage) enclosed building where I sit in and watch a bait pile, but I dont feel like walking the 100 yards to get to it the way the weather is tonight.

My bait site only sees possums on nights like that. They love the rain. Coyotes just north of you don't like to get wet.
 
I went out a couple days ago, the rain started half hour after I got started, never saw, heard a coyote all day. I am a firm believer that if its raining, or too windy (20+), then I stay home.....I have had limited luck in foggy conditions as well..
 
Checked the trail cams this morning after the all night blast of rain/wind. Picked up a couple of coons and possums, but less than normal. A typical busy night I get about 800-1000 pictures. Got about 300 last night. Red fox was also out there. He has become a regular nightly visitor over the last week or so and the weather didnt seem to deter him too much.
 
Sometime before Christmas my Dad was going to put out flowers on graves at multiple country cemeteries so he threw his old Savage .22 Hornet in with him. It was blowing 20mph or so with hit or miss sleet and rain (didn't figure he'd see anything) Runs across a coyote sitting in a wheatfield just sitting like a farm dog would (near Danville, Randy). He jumped out pulled the bolt(all the way out of the receiver) Now the gun is at his gun doc.

I've seen them moving in all kinds of weather, I'm just never in the right place with the right call to kill them!
