twist rate for 7mm-08

Hi Guys, Anyone have an idea on the best twist rate for 7mm-08 shooting 140 gr bullets at around 2850 fps? I've got a Rem model 7 that I plan to re-barrel because it never shot better than 2 MOA. Thanks, Rebelleader.

I went 1:12" (Broughton 5C), cause I wanted to push the 120 TSXs exclusively. It rocks them (and the 120 VMax) at 3K+ into little bitty holes...

My 1-9 shoots them and pretty much everrything else well. 7mm-08 is still my favorite whitetail cartridge..........

Any thoughts before i pull the trigger on a 1:11.5 stevens 200? Is $275 a good price? I plan to re-barrel it in the future.

If the rifle is in good condition that's a fair price. Savage doesn't make the Stevens 200 any longer. I'd buy one for that price.

A year or two ago, bought two Stevens 200 rifles, one a .270 and other a 7mm-08 from Academny Sports and Outdoors. The 7mm-08 had what I thought was a 1 in 11 barrel. Gent I shoot with, recently acquired a 7mm-08 Stevens 200 from a friend who'd bought it from Academny too. This owner says his is a 1 in 12 twist.

Anyway, for quite awhile Academny sold these Stevens for $279. I bought one when they dropped the price to $249. A couple of months later they put them on clearance for $179...bought my second Stevens. During this time period the Gander Mtn stores in our area had a $320 price on the Stevens 200. Told a few of my shooting buddies about the $179 clearance price and they bought maybe 8 of them. LOL, all were bought just for the actions...lots of rebarreling took place. I rebarreled my 270 to 6.5x55 Swede.
