twist rate on Remington 700 22-250 SPS

Does anyone know the twist rate on a 700 SPS factory 22-250. I ran a brush thru it the other night and looks like 1 in 14". Looking like I might have to go with a lighter bullet.

Yes, 1:14 is correct which limits you to bullets of 50 to 55 gr. Why Remington hasn't changed the twist to something faster has me puzzled.

+1 on the twist. It would be nice to be able to load up a 65gr. but the rifle is so accurate I can live with a 55.

I shoot 45 also and sometimes 40. Have not tried lighter.

Wonder if anyone has loaded 45 grain bullets with cfe223 powder. If so what were the start load. I see where some have shot 50 grainers with a 37 grain cfe223 start load and worked up to 38 grains

While it would be nice if they offered as an option a barrel with perhaps a 1-9" twist, for most of us, me included, the 1-14" twist is fine. I think that I might rather that it had a 1-12" twist as it would likely be better should the day ever come that I want to try 60 grain bullets. But all I ever shoot out of mine is 40 to 55 grain bullets I am good with what it has.

1/12 might be ok but I am quite happy with the 14 twist doing exactly what it was designed for and became popular for. Shooting quite flat to 400 yds at a good velocity. Going faster twist would diminish both velocity and barrel life.
Faster twist barrels and factory rifles are available for those that choose.
