Two stage or Single stage trigger on my AR-15

It's personal preference, either one will work. The problem I have with single stage triggers in the AR is that there is a little bit of creep in the ones that I've tried like the Timney (which also had lighter hammer falls). I was hesitant to try a two stage trigger at first since I love the single stage triggers in my bolt guns but I won't go back to them

I agree it's personal preference but I prefer the single stage because all my other gun's are single stage so it's muscle memory for me but I love the TIMNEY never had a problem with mine and I have 5 of them.

I put a Timney in my first build, and a SSA-E on my second one. The Timney is a very nice trigger but I really like the SSA-E. Got on a 30% off sale at primary arms on black friday so it was cheaper also.

I have 2 Rock Rivers with NM 2-stage triggers so that is what I am used to shooting, I have shot buddys AR's with other factory triggers, and let them shoot my 2-stage, both guys changed there triggers out to 2-stage. I guess they like the 2-stage as much as I do.

In bolt guns I like set triggers followed by nice, crisp 1.2-2 lb single stage triggers. In my ARs I use nothing but Geissele two stage with a preference for NM and SSA-E.

This is exactly my preference as well

I'll take single stage because this is what i'm used to on bolt guns. I don't want to have to "get used to" a two stage on an ar.

It's all personal preference. Once it is go time, your trigger pull should be steady and crisp. Don't yank it, but don't pull too slowly either. Nice steady and crisp. I have shot many predators and many long range matches with a variety of triggers and I have not really found that big of a difference between them.

I am one of those guys that a good trigger is like dope to a junky...I gotta have more to shoot good. With my bolt guns I got down to 4 ounces. For some strange reason with my AR's...it doesn't seem to matter to a point. I still gotta have a good trigger. I just cant get used to a heavy pull no matter what. But, I find that with my AR's I shoot the one with the two stage Rock River just as good as I do the fully adjustable Jard. In fact if I had to choose...I'd probably take the two stage RRA. Plus, it's hard to beat for the price and the Jard don't seem to stay adjusted if you set it as light as it will go.

I'm accustomed to the single stage triggers on my bolt guns,so the single stage trigger stays on my AR. Thanks guys all good stuff.

+2 for this
Had a Timney in an AR, didn't like it. Love them on bolt actions, but for ARs I prefer a Geissele.

I had no experience with 2 stage triggers until I bought a Weatherby Vanguard S2. Their triggers are really sweet.

Went out a purchased a Geiselle SSA-E for one of my lowers. Now it's the lower I use with the uppers from all my other ARs. Waiting to see if Santa brought me another one for my .308 lower!
