Two Tonight

After the past few days of gale force winds, then two days of rain outs I finally got lucky. They were out in force tonight and I managed two. Both on the opposite side of the lake, 140 yards.
The first, a big male, I did him a favor. Serious case of mange. Probably wouldn't have made the winter. The second, judging by the size, was a yearling female. Finally tried the FoxPro and I must have guessed right.

Nice! Congratulations on the double, Don P. Glad things were clicking for you last night.

I had the same plan for the same reasons. Between being grounded with the shingles virus, then just crazy winds and rain, there was no way I was sitting last night out. Enough cloud cover to keep the moon somewhat in check most times. Still had to tuck in good. Unfortunately I never saw or even heard a coyote on the 3 sets I made. Most deer were bedded except for my second set where a spike was cruising around and wouldn’t leave. Things aren’t looking great around me for a bit weather wise. Hoping for some breaks in the precipitation that allows some field time.

Haha! Very nice! Forgive my ignorance, but that’s NV right? I’ve always wondered if IR light would “reflect” off water and make it somehow visible. I know a lot of hog hunters here say the hogs react to IR light, but not sure if I believe them simply for the fact I used a red or green light to kill quite a few piggies before thermal.

Thanks, it’s been a while, weather sucked and when it didn’t the coyotes didn’t cooperate.

Ugh, my brother-in-law had that, I feel for you, supposedly a painful experience.

Last night was THE night to be out here by me. I quit around midnight but not for a lack of coyotes. The rest of the group was still howling and barking when I left but hesitant to come to the lakeside. Guess they were waiting on these two to return. If I had stayed I may have been able to coax out one more. Another time.

Hang in there, hope the weather and health improves.

Yes Mark, that's my AGM Infrared with a Sniper Hog Lights IR light. Works great. I've had coyotes that were affected by the IR light and others that could care less. These two instances, one was the trail cam IR light and the other was the trail cam IR light and my IR light from across the lake as seen from the trail cam.
I've never tried colored visible light. I have a 640 thermal scope but I prefer the IR.
