upper vise block build?

I really like those delrin vise blocks w/ the pins...i think dpms makes one any a couple other companies....i cant seem to justify the $50 for a barrel swap i might do every 3 yrs or so...was thinking about shaping some type of hardwood down and drilling a couple holes for the pins...you guys have any jigs like this???? any input would be appreciated!!!
 
I'm not real fond of that style block. True, it would be easier to make at home than a clam-shell block, but not as safe for the receiver.

Why not look into clamping the rail. It's the strongest part of the receiver, and the only part that is universal to all receivers, even AR-10 based.
 
never thought of flippin it over dtech....i could defintly fix something to the pic. rail to vise on.... it only has to hold bout 80 lbs of torque in theory for barrel swap 30-70 lbs...thx Mike..!!

LOL! You should see my shop! It's full of little gadgets that come from thinking outside of the box. Some of them even work!
 
awesome! so what does your little pic rail jib for clamping in vise look like?? pm it to me if you dont want the secret out!!! would love to see the wssm masters shop some day!thx again!
