Is anyone here a member of the USCCA? I am looking for some first hand experience with it?

At first I thought it looked like just another scam, I am not a huge fan of their marketing, but the more I read about it, it looks like it may be a wise investment.

I would love to hear some first hand experience with it? Also, for those of you with you CHL/CCW, do you have attorneys on retainer, or some other form of insurance in case of a shoot?

Thanks,

I think that you should first check with your homeowners insurance carrier to see what, if any coverage, you might have in the event you have to protect yourself or family...

Next, talk to your family attorney about your actual liability in such event.

Then consider what the reasonable probability is that you will be in that position, if you exercise everyday common sense in going about your activities...

Almost $300 per year for specific liability coverage, plus the other benefits is not that unreasonable if you are a person that normally would find yourself in the position to use a weapon in a defensive situation...However, that is not the case for the average person on a day to day basis...

With the adoption of the Castle Doctrine and it's variants by numerous states, your liability is seemingly somewhat reduced from my understanding...but anyone can be sued by anyone under various circumstances....

I am not too concerned about at the house. More when I am out. I have followed up with my home insurance and should be taken care of in the event something happens within my home.

Yes, I realise the likely hood is slim to non of having to use my weapon. But I did get my CHL to be prepared, this is just one more avenue I am considering to be prepared.

I agree Turtle, that the Castle law's do seem to opening up and even protecting the licensed shooter in a good shoot, but also as you said, the civil litigation just hasn't followed. Even if a civil suit doesnt win, it still costs money to fight in court.

Having insurance for something does 0 to affect whether or not you'll be sued. I likewise see no need to keep any atty on retainer for omg money every month just because I own or carry a pistol.

There is no amount of money that can prevent someone from suing you if they want to.

The USCCA helped my Son in law out when he was cuffed and stuffed at the airport in NYC. He was checking his sidearm in per TSA rules to go back home to Florida. He was cuffed and stuffed because he had a sidearm in NYC with out first getting a permit. He was on a business trip for his company, He Checked his sidearm in per TSA rules when he left Florida with no problems. It all happened when he was leaving after 3 days in NYC.

This outfit saved his butt from doing time.
